Big Brother has just begun, but we’re already looking towards the finale. We have been waiting to hear the official word on when the Big Brother 27 season officially ends. On X (formerly known as Twitter), reporter Sharon Tharp confirmed that the finale is Sunday, September 28. It will be a two-hour finale that starts at 8:30 pm EST.
We suspected this would be the finale date because Azah’s finale party announcement mentioned that date. Sharon also announced that The Amazing Race 38 premieres on September 25. It will also be a 90-minute episode that premieres at 9:00 pm but switches to 9:30 pm EST the following week.
This season of The Amazing Race is notable for featuring all former Big Brother houseguests and their relatives. This includes Big Brother 26’s Angela Murray and Tucker Des Lauriers, Big Brother winners Chelsie Baham, Taylor Hale, and Jag Bains. The last week in September will be a very busy one for Big Brother fans.
Big Brother’s September 28 finale confirms that this season is only 83 days — the shortest since Big Brother 24. A shorter season and potential 17 houseguests may mean a potential triple eviction or two double evictions or some sort of special additional eviction. This just adds to the excitement of this already exciting season.
On Thursday’s Big Brother premiere, we saw the 16 new houseguests begin their summer of mystery. A mystery that meant the return of Rachel Reilly. It also included a Masked Visitor and another mystery involving the houseguests.
This houseguest only begins to play the game if they manage to go undetected by the other houseguests. The schemes and plots have already begun even before someone was crowned the first Head of Household. Now we need to see what the players do in the next 83 days to win their spots in the Big Brother hall of fame.
I think the shorter season could make the game more exciting. It’ll be a few fewer days of inactivity, and now with the AI Arena back as the BB Blockbuster, we’ll have even more dynamic gameplay. Additionally, because The Amazing Race starts right after Big Brother, we go right into another Big Brother-related show.
Therefore, the fans won’t have to miss the series too much. They’ll at least have a few weeks of The Amazing Race to keep them satisfied. And there is no Celebrity Big Brother return this winter, but there could be a new stand-in Big Brother-related show in the winter to compete with the 2026 Winter Olympics
