Big Brother 21 finally arrives on Tuesday and the houseguests are in for a great outdoors summer. The house is designed like Camp Big Brother, and the first challenge of the season will have the HGs lost in “the woods” in complete darkness. And we have a look at that first challenge now.
TVGuide magazine revealed the first challenge last week in its print edition and it’s a new version of the fan favorite black box challenge. The HGs will be running around in the complete darkness on night one. We love it! Big Brother executive producers Rich Meehan and Allison Grodner explained the first competition to the magazine, but were sure to not call it the Head of Household competition. So it might have a lot more to it than just who is the first HOH.
“This challenge has one of the things we love to do in Big Brother, which is put our houseguests in complete darkness and play a game,” Meehan explained.
Grodner went on to say that this is good competition for night one because it’s a game anyone can win. “Everyone can do well,” Grodner told TVGuide. “It’s not going to rely on a specific skill that maybe one person will have over another.”
You can check out an artist’s rendering of the competition below, but what we’ll be seeing is the HGs running around in pitch-black darkness, going from room to room where they might get stuck in honey (Camp Bee Bee) or a really loud disco room (Camp Bee Gees). The goal, of course, is to get back to the actual house (Camp BB). Other possible missteps are Camp PBJ and Camp Baby.
Big Brother 21 premieres Tuesday night at 8 PM on CBS. The second night of the premiere follows on Wednesday.
