Big Brother 21 Episode 13 Recap: Boss Hogg’s Plans Fail

Remember on Sunday night’s episode of Big Brother 21 when Boss Hogg took control? The “new sheriff in town” did what everyone wanted but no one wanted to do and nominated Jack and Jackson. We were all so thrilled with that and were praising Cliff for saving the week (maybe even the season). But in Wednesday night’s episode, Cliff completely lets us down.

The episode picked up right after Cliff nominated Jack and Jackson. They took the nomination pretty well, considering they’re both pretty aggressive alpha males. But they both are already plotting the use of Christie’s power this week. But Christie let’s everyone in her group know that she will only use her power if one of the six wins the veto because she doesn’t trust anyone else to not nominate one of the six.

Oh, and have-nots are back. Not that it matters because Big Brother isn’t enforcing the rules.  But regardless, Cliff has to pick who the have-nots are. He picks (he didn’t really pick – on the Live Feeds tfour people volunteered) Tommy, Kat, Christie and Jackson. The Camp Comeback room is now the have-not room.

A little later Jack finally lets his allies know that he won the power to change the veto players. He realizes he might have to use the power this week. Speaking of which, it’s time to pick the players.

During the veto draw Cliff draws houseguest’s choice and he picks Sam. Jack draws Holly’s name. And Jackson picks Jessica. But Jack chooses to activate the chaos power. So a redraw has been forced. So once again, Cliff draws first. This time he picks Kathryn. Jack pulls Sam (which he wanted to avoid). And Jackson picks Analyse.

Bella, Nick and Cliff know that with those veto players, they could be in trouble this week if Christie uses her power to turn veto into the Diamond Power of Veto.

At the veto competition, the players have to take off their clothes while sitting on a jet ski whole holding down three buttons. The person who does it the fastest wins the veto. This is a cute competition. And it looks harder than you’d think.

Let’s look at the times.

Cliff 4:47
Analyse 9:06
Sam 11:21
Kathryn 3:25
Jack 13:10
Jackson 2:59

Jackson won the Power of Veto! And he immediately thinks that Christie can now use her power so he can name Bella as the replacement nominee. But Cliff is worried about letting that happen. And Christie still doesn’t know if she even wants to use it.

Christie lets her allies know that she isn’t sure what to do and Jackson gets pretty upset and Christie finally realizes that Jackson is trying to dictate everything that goes on in the game. Christie decides to talk to Cliff about her power. She says she doesn’t want to use it and wants to know who he would put up. He says he’s flexible. Christie tells Cliff that if he were to put up Bella, she won’t use her power and will give Cliff two weeks complete safety, but also he would never be her target.

Cliff swears to Christie that if she doesn’t use her power he will honor the deal to put Bella up. He says that if he does that he could use that as leverage and further his position in the game. He gives us a tiny bit of hope in the Diary Room that he could just go back on the deal and do what he wants this week and not what Christie wants.

But at the veto meeting, Cliff keeps his deal with Christie and names Bella as the replacement nominee after Jackson removes himself from the block. Cliff says he couldn’t go back on his word because his family would never forgive him. Actually, his family tweeted that he was welcome to go back on his word and not do what Christie wanted this week. So Cliff, you let us all down this week. I know that two weeks of safety sounds good, but what sounded even better was going down in history as the person who made the biggest and boldest move of Big Brother 21. Now he’ll be known for quite the opposite.
