Big Brother 26 Countdown: Two Weeks Until Premiere Night!

Big Brother 26 host Julie Chen

Only two weeks remain before premiere night on July 17th for Big Brother 26 on CBS and we’ve still got nearly nuthin’ to go on for the new season ahead! Overnight host Julie Chen shared a teaser look inside the new BB26 house and that also gave us another new logo for the season. But there’s still a lot more to discover.

With the 26th season of Big Brother just days away we still need to find out what theme and design the house will have, what twists are on the way this summer, and most importantly who will be our cast of Houseguests! I don’t anticipate we’ll get the latter until the last minute though. Past few seasons have made this announcement in the same week as the reveal so I would prepare for that to be the case again.

Long ago when CBS routinely invited me to the studio lot to meet the cast we would do that a week before premiere, but those days are gone! Now with last minute dropouts (we had those then too!) and rapid tests before the cast enters things are just a little more fluid and holding back the reveal helps avoid awkward or confusing changes.

So what about that house tour then? Well last season we got the house reveal the night before the premiere when CBS held it back to be part of Julie’s video tour with ET. That’s super late in the preseason game, but could be what happens again this year. Not sure why the powers that be think holding back the preseason hype machine is the best strategy, but that’s why they don’t pay us fans the big bucks.

In the meantime we’ll be here watching and waiting for the new Big Brother 26 cast, house reveal, and twist details. It’s quite possible we’ll get a cast reveal on Monday, July 15th, house reveal on Tuesday, July 16th, and the premiere with twist details announced on Wednesday, July 17th. And at some point I’m hoping they’ll tell us how long the season will run and pretty please don’t make it another 100 days. That’s just too much Big Brother, CBS. Too much!
