Big Brother 26’s Tucker and Rubina confirmed their relationship right after the finale and have gladly flown back and forth to see each other for the past few months. They were the crucial showmance of the season. This is mainly because Tucker’s competition prowess allowed them enough time to get to know each other and fall madly, obsessively in love. However, they weren’t the first blossoming showmance of Big Brother 26. That title belongs to Matt and Makensy.
We now know the infamous story of how Angela made it her mission to evict“Crazy Eyes” Matt in week 1. Angela had several reasons for wanting him out, but one was the potential brewing showmance between Matt and Makensy. The pair only had nine days together in the house before Matt met Julie Chen Moonves. This led to everyone else being afraid to showmance for fear of the target that comes with it. Matt and Makensy were the prime examples of not even hinting at a showmance in Big Brother 26.
Outside of the house, Matt made it clear that he wanted to date Makensy. However, her feelings were unclear while still playing Big Brother. Fans weren’t sure if she had romantic feelings for him, but towards the end of the season, Makensy often fantasized about her reunion with Matt. She spoke of exploring things and seeing if the feelings inside the house grew into something real in the real world.
At some of the post-Big Brother 26 celebrations, Matt and Makensy were often recorded or photographed together. This made people wonder if they were casually dating, just friends, or in an exclusive relationship. Since Big Brother 26 wrapped, they have quietly been visiting each other and growing their relationship.
We have seen some images of them that looked like they were becoming a couple. However, it was all just speculation until they confirmed it in an Instagram post. Taking a similar path as Tucker and Rubina, they hard launched their relationship with an official Instagram post with photos and videos showing them together and very much a new couple.

Matt and Makensy becoming a couple isn’t surprising but a bit unexpected. We weren’t sure if they would just casually date for a while without making anything official. However, we’re happy for the new pair and wish them well.
Matt and Makensy are the second Big Brother 26 couple to turn their showmance (even though they didn’t get enough time to turn it into a full showmance) into a real romance. It’s unlikely any other houseguests will announce their relationship but you never know. We could have a third couple emerge within the Big Brother 26 family. Expect the unexpected.
