We’re only three weeks into Big Brother 26 but it was clear from the first few days that Angela Murray would be our season villain after she kicked things off with a “CRAZY EYES!” rant that left the HGs and viewers perplexed. After spending two rounds on the Block it looks like Angela may have the opportunity to slide into the shadows and let another HG take some of the attention for himself.
Quinn Martin has the distinction of winning one of the two AI Upgrade powers along with Makensy Manbeck. Quinn’s was the Deepfake HOH which would let him silently takeover someone else’s HOH and make his own choices for the week. Secrecy is key in much of Big Brother but that’s harder said than done.
Quinn made a couple of mistakes with his power including letting Angela know and then sharing the power details with Kimo. I think Angela may have resisted sharing more than Kimo did who traded it as currency for trust with other HGs. So as word spread so did the concerns. Why was Quinn holding this info back from his closest allies if they were really his closest allies?
Everything boiled over on Monday at the Veto meeting when Tucker called Quinn out for having the Deepfake HOH power. Quinn then had to spend the rest of the day on an apology tour trying to explain away why he hadn’t told them about it, or rather why he told some HGs but not them in particular. Since then there’s been a bit of a question mark over Quinn for some of the HGs and that uncertainty may be soon tested.
On tonight’s Veto episode the PoV will be played and Makensy’s Upgrade Veto will see the light of day (it’s even got a US flag pattern on the medallion). That means viewers are about to send someone to the nomination couch in her place and surprisingly to me it seems like Quinn could be a top contender for that renom role. Of course with Angela saved already this week she won’t be eligible or otherwise I’d expect her to be the top pick for that role.
So what if Quinn does hit the Block for Thursday night? Does he have the support to stay over Kenney or possibly Tucker, depending on how the Arena battle goes?
Trust has definitely been eroded for Quinn but I’m not certain enough damage has been done that wouldn’t keep him in the game over Kenney. Kenney hasn’t let up on the wavering desires to go home to his family and HGs have repeatedly said they’ll be glad to let him go this week. But in light of Monday’s post-Veto blow up would they be tempted to send Quinn out and save Kenney for another easy week? Ehhh.
Let’s say Quinn stays this week, what then happens next week? Quinn has told his allies that regardless of who is the HOH he will use the power so the week’s damage is on his hands. HGs will probably welcome a little reprieve for themselves (aside from the three on the Block!), but there might also be the temptation to get rid of Quinn in this week’s vote (if he’s up there) and avoid whatever unknowns come with his Deepfake HOH.
Overnight we heard T’kor tell Cedric that she does still have some doubts about Quinn after hearing more of his many F2s around the house. If that earworm starts to spread then Quinn could definitely have a troubled path to reclaiming trust in the coming weeks and that could make him a popular target, usurping the role from Angela especially if Kenney is gone as another easy nom and target. Boy, that’d be something, huh?
