For the first time in 24 years, our trusty host Julie Chen Moonves will be missing at the front of the Big Brother house when tonight’s evicted Houseguest emerges to become the first Juror.
Announcing on Twitter this afternoon, Julie explained that several days ago she woke up with a sore throat and tested positive for Covid. “Thankfully… it’s been very mild! No fever and just a sore throat,” wrote Julie.
So what happens when Julie can’t host? Well it’s the first time this has happened in twenty-four years but luckily she has a backup plan. Her friend and colleague Jerry O’Connell, who also happens to be a Big Brother fan and has previously graced the front of the house before with her, will be stepping in for the role tonight.

Jerry will be there when the cameras go live and will chat with the HGs for their votes and even the interview at the end with tonight’s evicted HG. I’m still expecting that to be Quinn, so the poor guy will miss his chance to meet Julie tonight but don’t worry, she’ll be back next week and they can all say Hi at finale night.
Don’t miss tonight’s live eviction show starting at 8/7c on CBS with the special guest host Jerry. He’ll do great and this will definitely be something different and very fun for everyone. Then in the meantime we wish Julie the very best, a quick recovery , and we’ll see her back at the Big Brother house real soon!
