It took six long weeks, but as the social media Big Brother fandom might say, we are finally eating good this week. And if you’re not caught up on Big Brother 21 yet, let me warn you there are SPOILERS ahead.
Big Brother 21 finally took a turn in the right direction this week when Jessica won the Head of Household competition and nominated Jack and Jackson for eviction. And just ahead of that was the whole Six Shooters implosion that gave us the best episode of the season this past Sunday.
That was good and all, but Christie’s Diamond Power of Veto still loomed over everything. If the wrong person were to win veto, this fantastic week could all just go down hill like Cliff’s run of HOH did. Cut to Saturday and Jessica also wins the Power of Veto! And keep in mind, this is Jessica who was starting to look like the biggest sheep of the season. She seemed clueless to what was going on and actually thought she was a part of the majority multiple times. Until she heard firsthand that she was not apart of that group.
It took that Six Shooters implosion to kick Jessica into gear. She, and everyone else, heard what went down in that closed door meeting. I guess the HGs don’t realize how thin the Big Brother house walls are. Of course these are also the same people who often wonder which camera is the “Live Feed camera.” Pssst, they’re all Live Feeds cameras!
So Jessica was late to the party. Hey, at least she got there! And she made the right moves. There was still some concern she was going to do something silly with her own Veto, but luckily that didn’t happen. On Monday, she did not use the Power of Veto and Jack and Jackson remain the nominees this week.
Regardless of what happens, one of the alpha males of the majority leaves this Thursday. That helps even out the numbers and we love a good power shift. As of now, Jack is the target and that makes the most sense. Jack leaving means the majority is down not only himself, but Jackson as he is definitely on the outs. And Jackson is so annoyed with that Six, he’s ready to target them.
Actually, Jack is tired of Christie himself. He even said in the past day that if he gets evicted, wins a Battle Back and Christie is still in the game he’s going after her.
While all this was going on some other things happened: Cliff, Nicole, Jessica and Kat became a pretty solid alliances. Kat is still playing an impeccable floater game though, so I wouldn’t bank on her being loyal to the end. And then Nick is in the middle of it all, and he’s seemingly leaning more toward that group than the other. But that’ll likely change when the power changes again.
A lot of people, myself included, has been hard on Big Brother 21. And rightly so. It’s not usually fun when one side controls the whole season. We like power shifts. We like drama. Up until this week there hasn’t even been any fights. Just a lot of stifling and arrogance (like Jackson telling people to get out of the room or Jack condescending Kemi at every turn). That was all really nasty and not entertaining behavior. This week was actual Big Brother drama and we loved it.
So in my opinion, this has been the best week of the season. And I’m not saying the season has been saved. There’s a lot of time and a lot of potential terrible twists that could help decide if that is to ever happen or not. But here’s to being hopeful! I think we need one more week of an underdog HOH and then the power can shift back to see what happens. Or maybe, if the right former Six Shooter wins HOH they’ll go for one of their own. There are a lot of great possibilities.
I don’t know about you, but I’m rejuvenated after this week. Now where is that Julie Chen “Welcome to Big Brother” gif?
