Big Brother 21: The Best And Worst Moments Of Week 5

I’m hoping after recent developments in the Big Brother 21 house this post will be a lot more fun to write next week. But for now, let’s take a look back at the fifth week of this season of Big Brother and decide what we loved and didn’t love.  I’d like to point out that this time we have more best moments than worst! See, I’m not always totally negative!

The Best Moments of Big Brother 21 Week 5

Endurance Comp Drama. It was fun to actually see two people in the same alliance (Holly and Sis) not trust each other enough to make a deal and drop. Of course this was all because of Jackson. Say what you will about Jackson, but he has added the right ingredients to this alliance dynamic to make sure it crumbles. And for that, I think you, Jackson.

Nick Wins Veto. I’m no where near Team Nick status, but I was happy to see he won the veto because I think he will make a move against the right people if given the chance, and him coming off the block helped lead to what might end up being the best moments of this season.

Sam’s Campaign. Sam worked his ass off to stay in the Big Brother house this past week. He planted seeds all over the house and they didn’t just sprout, they fully budded and took over the entire garden. OK, that metaphor was lame, but whatever. Sam worked harder than any other nominee this season and that is very respectable. It might not have paid off for him in the end, but it at least led to what is now a fractured Six Shooters alliance. Did Sam save this season?

Kat Stays. While I was really torn over who I wanted to go home this week, in the end I was OK with the vote not flipping because I find Kat to be one of the more redeeming HGs this season. Sam did his job and helped dismantle the majority alliance, so at least it wasn’t all for not.

Six Shooters Implode. I’m not sure how fractured they’ll stay, but it was definitely fun watching that majority alliance crumble this week. It could end up just down to five, but at least there are cracks and we know that they won’t all be in the final six at this point.

The Worst Moments of Big Brother 21 Week 5

The Sheep Competition.  This might actually be the worst moment of the season. Not only was the competition too simple and required no skill, it was particularly cruel to animals. For some reason, this season has been obsessed with using live animals in competitions, and I’m here to say I’m not a fan. The others weren’t as bad as the veto competition, though. Those poor, terrified sheep getting chased around by people for a couple hours was unnecessary. And based on some Live Feeds talks, Tommy actually tackled one of the sheep and had to start a round over. We weren’t shown that on the episode for obvious reasons. I love that BB promotes adoptable animals when the Live Feeds are down, so take that same activism into the game itself and stop using live animals. Not even Jack in the Bo Peep costume could save that competition.

Episode Filler. I don’t want to see things like a flash mob (that’s so 2013) on the episode. But I guess when the cast isn’t even fighting (until this week!) they have to fill an hour with something.

America’s Field Trip. We finally learned what this new twist is about and it’s awful. America’s Field Trip will send the three people voted into a competition. The winner is safe for the week (this will be next week, not this week), second place gets a punishment and last place goes on the block as a third nominee. This is just silly because if you vote your favorite HG they could end up as a nominee. If you vote your least favorite they could end up safe for the week. Why would anyone even want to vote in this? I guess it could send a message that the three voted isn’t that well liked since there’s only one reward and two punishments. But it’s just another bad, unnecessary twist in my opinion.

What did you find to be the best and worst moments of Big Brother 21 Week 5?
