Big Brother 16 Losing A Daughter, But Gains A Son In ‘Alex’

Joey Van Pelt is having an epic week in the Big Brother 16 house, but unfortunately it’s not the good kind of epic. In a last ditch effort to rally the troops from under Caleb’s control, as she sees it, Joey introduced “Alex,” her tough guy alter ego.

Things are looking grim for Joey, but she believes she’s still got a shot at staying (she doesn’t) so she pulled out the big guns on Tuesday afternoon. Alex’s big guns to be exact.

Flashback on the Live Feeds to Tuesday at 4:02PM BBT on Cams 1/2 to find “Alex,” Joey’s alter ego, who has “big balls” and “likes to do guy stuff” like lifting weights, working on cars, and anything dirty. Alex arrives and immediately starts shouting, waving arms, and yelling threats in a silly manner.

Alex shoves “his” padded crotch in Nicole’s face demanding her vote. Next he heads outside, does some weights, curses at the cameras, and then yells at the outdoor HGs. Donny, the naturally encouraging and supportive guy, starts clapping when she’s done.

Joey busts in on the Hive to yell at Christine, Caleb, and Zach. After she leaves Zach reacts, “If that doesn’t make the TV, I don’t know what will!” Caleb responds, “If that doesn’t go home, I don’t know what will.”

When Joey heads back to the kitchen Derrick suggests she take “Alex” upstairs to the HoH room. Joey wanders around for a moment before asking “where are the stairs?” And that right there, ladies and gentlemen, is a big sign of why Joey’s in this spot. She’s so rarely visited the room of power in her nearly two weeks in that house that she doesn’t even know how to get up there. Sigh.

No one upstairs lets her in as she shouts at the door. Perhaps the funniest part of this whole event is wide-eyed Devin hiding behind the door and waving off any reaction from others in the room.

After it’s all done she goes back to the HN room to de-Alex. Brittany comes in and says she thought Joey would do her “gay brother” character rather than someone who “scared the s*** out of the house.” Joey assures her it was all okay. She needed to get it off her chest and if she had done it as Joey instead of “Alex” then HGs would have really been scared. Ohhh. Okay.

Yes, Joey is terrible at this game but I’m glad she’s doing something and entertaining us along the way. I’ll miss her antics, but not her “strategy.” I’d say she solidified her eviction tomorrow night, but her previous moves already set that in stone and wrapped it in steel.

  1. Haven’t seen the feeds, but I wonder if this last ditch attempt to change things is inspired by Amanda’s Bubbe last season. I hate that the recruits are only shown a few recent seasons of the show. Lots of repetition.

  2. Regardless of how bad of a game she played, she definitely made some good TV. I hope we get some more of this entertainment (NOT the gameplay) before the years end! Really enjoying the new cast this year, so glad we didn’t bring back Vets.

    • I really starting to think that it might be a “Team America task”. But what would be the goal that they gave her.

      • You really think that? I couldn’t imagine what the goal would be. To see how many she could aggravate or make laugh?

      • That could be exactly that. What is the point of Team America. You’re going to cook for everybody ? I don’t think so. They are going to give them task the disrupt the monotony.

      • They saw it in BBCan. They are looking for way to break the slow 2 or 3 days between veto ceremony and the live show.

      • I think the Canadian one was in response to the slow and lagging interaction between players. In true Canadian style the BBCan people were deemed very eccentric by most Canadians, but were still very timid, tame, and didn’t give much in the way of entertainment. Martha the Moose and her tasks were hilarious. ;)

      • Add to that the more edge-of-your seats missions sent by the Canadian BB himself (Allison’s Hidden Veto and Ika’s decision)

      • No not by Canadian standards for sure… but again people were ”nice” and ”polite” to each other except when ego & alliance didn’t mesh… ;)

      • I could see DR suggesting she try something crazy to get votes, but like Brenda noted, I’m not sure what the goal would have been. Go campaign for votes for 5 mins & get $5K seems kinda iffy.

      • The vote thing is over and done. I don’t know, I’m trying to think about it. Maybe something like, you have to get one them to say a specific phrase relating to her agrravating them.

      • It certainly could be & it’d be nice if she got something in. They definitely know which way the votes are blowing so maybe a one & only hoorah for her role on TA.

  3. I’m getting more into it. Really like Donny but they will steamroll him. Too nice. Would rather have seen Donny hook up with Derrick. Once again you have a HG trusting the wrong person. Same with Victoria who is a prima donna. She’s woke up a little since Frankie put her up but don’t expect that to last. Too bad for the girls, even though they never had a chance Joey killed it before we could see if they could do anything.

    • The girls are definitely getting outplayed by the guys right now. The only girls I have any faith in are Christine and Nicole.

      • The other girls are too busy worrying about what they look like. Victoria is your typical prima donna. They just are not getting this whole BB thing!

  4. I watched BBAD last night and couldn’t figure out what she was going for. Crazy woman………………

  5. We’re not even 2 weeks into the season and HouseGuests are already going bonkers. What has the world come to?
