Big Brother is back! And so is the AI Arena twist, now dubbed the BB Blockbuster. But that’s not all. Big Brother 13 winner Rachel Reilly has also made her return to the game. But if you watched the Big Brother 27 premiere, you already know that a whole lot more went down in those very fast and dramatic 90 minutes.
So like every season, it’s time for me to give my first impressions of the Big Brother 27 season premiere.
The Cast
After last season’s entertaining cast, it’s going to be hard to say what I really think of this cast for a while. BB26 is a tough act to follow. But so far, the cast seems pretty decent. All the usually archetypes are there. There seems to be a higher number of “fans” this season though. Even though most of them only started watching during BB16.
I do think Vince has a lot of potential. His diary rooms show that he’s got real plans on how to play the game, and he doesn’t seem to care if he ends up being a bit of a villain. I also think Adrian has a lot of potential, as the season’s SUPER fan. I think he earned that title for having his own wall completion built at home!
After Angela and Tucker last season, this cast has to be full of personalities. Here’s to hoping they used the same casting directors. And if not, at least we’ve got Rachel. We know she’s not afraid to stir the drama.
One-night premieres ย are a lot to process with meeting all 16 new houseguests. Last season we had two nights to meet and process everyone. So I will have a better read on the cast a little later.
The Twist
I love a good mystery game, and since that is the theme of the season, I’m pretty stoked. So far what has gone down has been pretty impressive. And NONE of us had any idea that there was some sort of accomplice … I won’t really call them a plant, but more like the Saboteur. I’m sure they were cast and then offered this opportunity with the caveat that if they don’t pull it off, they could be out before the game really gets going.
And of course Rachel Reilly joining the cast is also a part of the twist. As a fan, I love that she’s back. If I were a player, though, I’d be furious. I’d be upset if any past winner returned. But Rachel would be a little more scary and annoying if I were living the dream as a BB houseguest. I do think it’s interesting Rachel didn’t seem to come in with any kind of protection for the first week. Unless they will let us know that later.
I do hope that the accomplice isn’t discovered because I would like to see all 17 players truly play the game.
BB Blockbuster
The AI Arena is back! And I couldn’t be happier. Literally the best game twist in the show’s history, if you ask me. I love the excitement of the live eviction night competitions, and really LOVE that no one really knows who is going home or how the votes will play out because who knows who will still be on the block by the time the live vote comes around. And Julie said it was permanent all season. So I guess that means it doesn’t end when the twist ends? That I was a little unclear on.
The House
I think the house is one of the best-looking in a long time. And it really plays along with the mystery theme. Loving the secret passages, and I think I would be checking every nook and cranny for clues. This would be the prefect season to hide some secret powers. ย So yeah, I am a big fan of the house.
Overall impression
After the success of Big Brother 26, I knew it would be hard to find that same kind of magic two seasons in a row. But I think BB27 is promising. I think even if the mystery twist flops and Rachel goes home first (that won’t happen, though), at least we have the BB Blockbuster to keep the excitement and entertainment up.
The only bad thing is now we have to wait until Sunday night to find out what’s happening with the next episode and the Live Feeds launch. They really don’t want us knowing anything that has happened so far…
