How Strong Is The Big Brother 26 Final 4? [Op-ed]

We don’t often get a strong Final 4 in this game. Especially if one or two houseguests have played their cards right. The Big Brother 26 Final 4 is pretty typical, actually. We’ve got a strong leader, their closest ally, their throwaway ally, and the leftover.

Can you guess who each of the final 4 represents? I think it’s pretty obvious. Chelsie is the leader. Cam is her true ally. Makensy is her throwaway ally and Rubina is the leftover. We’ve seen this exact final 4 so many times. BB16 and BB22 really come to mind. BB17 comes to mind. The outcomes in those seasons are usually the same (other than BB17), and I expect BB26 to follow suit.

So the question we ask ourselves now is, just how strong is this Final 4? Well, while this has been a wildly entertaining season, I think this Final 4 is one of the weakest we’ve ever seen. I’m not talking competition wins. I’m talking overall gameplay and strategy. Everyone knows this season has been an entire mess. The bad moves have been countless this season, and the players have been flops in comps. And before you question that statement, think back to OTEV. This cast played only ONE ROUND of OTEV. I need not say more.

Even Chelsie, who has played circles around the rest of this cast, has not been a great Big Brother player if you really dissect her game. From her week 1 of not even being a houseguest to some really questionable moves and choices, I don’t think we ever really call her a top tier winner (if she wins, but come on, she’s going to win). Any blunders she’s made aside, she’s been up against some pretty terrible gamers, so that’s another reason why she’d be hard to ever call a top-tier winner. Sure she’s played the best game this season and deserves to be rewarded for that with the win, but put her up against some real competitors, and I think she’s middle to low tier at best. But who knows, I guess. Maybe she didn’t really have to turn it all the way up, but could. Hopefully we’ll get to see some day with an all-winners season.

Now let’s look at Makensy. Comp beast? I guess so. Great player? Not even a little. She’s made so many bad calls. And she’s done practically all of Chelsie’s dirty work. Sure she’s still there and could even still get to the Final 2, but I will never be able to give her much more credit that I could a GinaMarie or a Liz.

Cam is a weird one. If I thought he knew he was playing a floater game, I’d praise him for it. And he won the veto the ONE week he really needed to. So that could look really solid on paper. But I don’t think he’s been throwing comps and laying low as a strategy. I think had he turned up his game a lot earlier, he could have done some damage, but he has just kind of sat back and let Chelsie steer this ship.

Rubina is that typical 4th or 3rd place player who never really made any moves and couldn’t really win many competitions and was just kind of spared for someone more threatening until there was no one else left to send out.

So overall, no, I would not call this a strong Final 4. But like I said, this is a very typical Final 4. Because Chelsie has played her cards right. But will she end up a Derrick or end up a Vanessa? We’ll know soon enough.
