First, the Mastermind kidnaps our dear host, Julie Chen-Moonves. Then he adds Big Brother 13 winner Rachel Reilly back into the game as the mystery houseguest. We also witness Vince become the first Head of Household of the season, and Zach win $10,000.Those things alone give us a lot to unpack with the Big Brother 27 premiere. However, there is an additional twist that we need to discuss.
The premiere ends on a cliffhanger about the Masked Visitor not acting alone. The houseguests have a saboteur of sorts amongst them. This person worked with the Masked Visitor to complete several tasks. The houseguests must now work together to guess the identity of the Accomplice.
If the Accomplice is found, they leave the game immediately. If they manage to go undetected, they become the true 17th houseguest. It’s in the players’ best interest to get this new Accomplice out of the game. It’s an unpredictable variable, and it makes less competition for the Big Brother 27 houseguests.
We don’t know much about the Accomplice yet. We don’t know if they will only help the Masked Visitor during this premiere or if they will continue to help the Masked Visitor for the rest of the season. Most likely, it’s a one-and-done deal, but there is a possibility that the person becomes a new houseguest, while continuing to help the Masked Visitor for the rest of the season or a few more weeks.
This Accomplice could become a major part of Big Brother 27, or just someone to help make a big splash during the premiere. We won’t know until Sunday whether the Accomplice survives the premiere or goes home.
As a player, the Accomplice needs to leave. However, as a viewer, the Accomplice could be a really entertaining aspect of the season. It would be more interesting if the Accomplice stayed around because this could change some of the game dynamics. An element of distrust would begin the season. This may make bonds harder to form, or make betrayals even more soul-crushing. Additionally, we don’t know yet if the Accomplice is a superfan or a recruited cast member. It would be devastating for a superfan to lose their chance at the Big Brother 27 game this early. Therefore, just for the potential devastation to this houseguest, it would be nice to see them live out their Big Brother dreams.
Hopefully, Big Brother reveals on Sunday who is the Accomplice to the viewers, but doesn’t tell the houseguests. I prefer the outcome of the Accomplice becoming the 17th houseguest. This could mean the Accomplice continues to have to stir up the game undetected. This twist has a lot of potential, and we want to see it fulfilled.
