Two more weeks and Big Brother 27 fully kicks off. Before the madness starts, let’s dip into some of the speculations, rumors, and theories about the theme of this season. Most fans believe Big Brother 27 will have a murder mystery or a Clue theme. This seems very likely given all the hints that seem to point in this direction.
Several promotional videos show host Julie Chen-Moonves holding a top-secret folder for Big Brother. Initially, this could have been a simple reminder about the upcoming season and a teaser of some mystery. However, in June, CBS released the first official image of the key art.
Entertainment Weekly also wrote an accompanying article that didn’t reveal much, but gave just a little teaser about the possible theme of the season. The key art may confirm a murder mystery theme. This isn’t a shocking decision. Due to the popularity of Traitors and Big Brother Canada’s 11th season having a murder mystery theme, it seems natural for the US version to tackle this concept as well.
We also already know the AI Arena returns this season in a new form, so maybe that will involve escaping murder by winning the AI Arena for safety. The key news also mentioned 48 keys, and some people on Bluesky gave some interesting theories on what they could mean.
These theories included a secret room, winning keys to unlock something, multiple heads of household each week, and possibly something to do with the new spin-off series, Big Brother: Unlocked.
Big Brother Reddit also presented some interesting theories about the upcoming season. The one that stood out was about a sabateur returning or another attempt at an invisible HOH. Hamsterwatch also mentioned rumors about a murder mystery twist being “on the right track.”

Additionally, a new Big Brother promo hit the internet this week. It only confirms all new houseguests, but teases “a shocker” that will make the houseguests scream. This could be anything from an announcement about AI Arena’s return to a night-one eviction, to some sort of unforeseen twist to an additional cast member. Anything can be shocking if you think about it.
