Big Brother 26: The Best And Worst Moments From Week 1

That was sure some first week of Big Brother 26. From arguments to secret powers to an eviction blindside, you can’t ask for a whole lot more in this game.

And since Week 1 is officially in the history books, it’s time for the first highs and lows of the season. Keep in mind, as always, that these are just my own best and worst moments and might differ from yours and even the other writers here. So just read along and let us know if you agree or disagree. We appreciate and respect everyone’s opinions here!

Best: Houseguests Vote No To Ainsley

I knew we had a pretty decent group of houseguests when Ainsely couldn’t get voted into the game either night. Not that she was ever really going to enter the game, but the fact that the players said nope to one more person was pretty impressive.

Worst: The Twist

I don’t like this twist. I am a Big Brother purist, so I’m never going to like game twists. Give me casting twists all day long. Bring on the twins, the exes, the secret pairs. Anything but game twits.

Best: The Powers

Even though I do not like the twist overall, I do actually like the two powers that Quinn and Makensy ended up with. America’s Veto will be so much fun for us to decide the replacement nominee. And the Deep Fake HOH Quinn got would be a lot of fun if he hadn’t revealed he has the power to multiple people. Now it’ll never really be a secret.

Worst: BBAI Mascots

I liked the powers, but hated the punishments. At first I thought it was going to be a really easy and lazy way for the HOH to choose their nominees week 1, but thankfully that did not happen. Taking every thing away from two players night one was just cruel regardless of the outcome.

Best: Angela Wins HOH

It’s always nice for a woman to win the first Head of Household conception, because too often, it’s a dude who nominates the women. It was so refreshing to see it happen this season. And come on, how entertaining was that entire long first week? She was an absolute mess of an HOH and I loved every second of it.

Worst: Quinn Reveals His Power To Angela

I understand why Quinn did this. Angela was the HOH and he wanted to build trust. And at that point he thought she was a lot less sane. But one thing I would never EVER do is reveal to anyone and I mean ANYONE that I won any secret power. Nope. Never.

Best: Angela Sets The House Ablaze

The Saturday after HOH, Angela woke up and chose violence. She went all in on Matt, aka “Crazy Eyes,” in one of the most exciting blowups since Big Brother 20. And then she kept going. Literally no one was safe from Angela, not even her two closest allies.

Worst: Lisa Wins The Veto

While I am happy a woman won a veto competition Week 1 and it opened up a backdoor option, I would have loved for Kimo to come off the block so the nominees would have been Lisa, Matt and Kenny. That would have been a wacky week.

Best: Angela Nominates Matt

It was so refreshing to not only see three men on the block in Week 1, but the target was actually the kind of guy that usually gets to skate by all season and runs the show.

Best: Kimo Wins The Arena Competition

So far this season, everything I’ve wanted to happen has happened. It was so exciting to see an underdog like Kimo beat Matt and Kenny. Loved it.

Best: Matt Is Evicted In A Blindside

To see a casting trope like Matt go home in Week 1 is so rare and oh so fun. I feel bad for anyone who has to go Week 1, but the Matt types are used to always winning. It’s healthy to not win sometimes. So this will be good for him, I’m sure.
