Adam Poch’s Big Brother 21 Player Rankings – Week 5

What started as a nice easy week off for the Six Shooters ended up turning into massive chaos. The he said / she said element in Big Brother is what drives the most grounded person into a wreck. Fortunately for us – a lot of these Houseguests are not that grounded. And while I know there are lots of fans who do not like this cast/season – the fireworks are coming, and it’s gonna get ugly!!

Before we look to the future – let’s take a look back at the week that was – and see who gets to devour some yummy bacon & who has to feel the pain of being fed tofu.

Nick Maccarone – 5 strips of Bacon – if you have ready my column the last several years, you have heard me say “the best night of sleep in the BB house is when you have that Veto around your neck.” If you are the target and you win that Veto – it’s even better. Nick knew it was him vs the world this week after seeing Bella leave. Even though he still had 1 true ally in Sam, once they both fell in the HoH – Nick knew his butt was gonna be on the block! He took it all in stride – and remained calm – and went out there and won the Veto pretty easily. Nick still has a long road ahead – but if he plays his cards right (and some other’s house of cards come crumbling down), he could end up being an asset and that could get him much deeper into the game.

Holly Allen – 4 strips of Bacon – say what you want about her “extra curricular activities” with Jackson (and her extra curricular rash to go along with it) – but Holly is probably the most rational of all the Six Shooters when it comes to the game itself. It’s sad that her association with Jackson is bringing her down a little – but she did an amazing job in the HoH – and then set herself up very well going into next week where she cannot play for HoH. She did not stir the pot too much, went along with Kat’s pawn plan, and is walking out of this week with absolutely no blood on her hands.

Kat Dunn – 3 strips of Bacon – as I mentioned in Holly’s recap – Kat came up with the plan to be the pawn this week to guarantee Sam going home. This is a MAJOR risk for most people in most seasons, but this week it was the perfect move. She is doing a fabulous job playing the middle and no one really knows how good she is with everyone in the house. Everyone is looking past her and trying to be the big dog – and that works perfectly for Kat to get further. She just cannot get too confident or cocky & slip up. In this season where several HGs just cannot keep their mouth shut when it comes to game info – she is still doing well giving just enough info to keep people trusting her.

Sam Smith – 3 strips of Bacon – just like Bella last week – Sam pretty much knows he’s a dead man walking – but he wanted to go out in a blaze of glory by blowing up Christie’s game. He kept saying he was going to do it in his speech on Thursday – but started on Monday. Now you are probably saying – “Adam, that does not sound Baconworthy… especially 3 strips worth.” I agree – that alone does not – but.. in doing so – now he has the house in a tizzy and actually did blow up Christie’s game and start the chain reaction of the impending battle that we are all eager to see. So for that GOOD JOB Sam!!! As the token “Loud Guy” on my season, I will be sad to see Sam go this week. We need the diary room shouter – its a BB tradition like Otev, Zingbot, and some crazy Leotard punishment. The good news is he will be able to spend the rest of the summer with his family.

Tommy Bracco – 2 strips of Bacon – I don’t know about you – but Tommy sometimes comes off fake with all of his enthusiasm over the smallest things. When he got picked to play in the Veto he looked & acted like someone that just won Big Brother. Calm down Tommy – it was just a random draw! With that said – Tommy is actually doing a great job of staying neutral within the Six Shooters. He comes off as a loyal member – and they all trust him with everything. He does not gossip or escalates the chaos – and this bodes well for him when the internal combustion happens. Question is – will he be able to form strong of bonds & form another alliance? Not sure – but he is still not going to be anyone’s target for several weeks to come (if at all).

Cliff Hogg – 1 strip of Bacon – yes, last week’s Tofurkey is now on the happy side of the food chain this week. It looks like his deal last week – a horrible one from the fan’s perspective – has turned out to work well for him. Well, at least for now. With all of the bickering going on behind each other’s backs – the Six Shooters have kind of forgotten about Cliff taking a shot last week. Well, Jack is still a little leery – but for the most part – Cliff faded into the background. He was able to rise to the occasion before when he needed to – will he be able to do it again?

Jackson Michie – 1 strip of Bacon & 1 strip of Tofu – Jackson had a very interesting week. I will try to keep it about gameplay only. He did a bad job of cheering on his 2 alliance members (by basically only cheering on one) – during the HoH – and he is still not quite aware that HOW he says things is more important than WHAT he is saying. However – he is starting to connect all of the dots and knows he will need to turn on a few people in his alliance before they turn on him. Well, not a few – just one – Christie. We will get to her later – but Jackson’s aggressive nature in this situation is actually good for his game.

Jack Matthews – 1 strip of Bacon & 1 strip of Tofu – after putting him in timeout last week – I am back to giving him a recap. Similar to Jackson – Jack had an interesting week. He was not really in the middle of the drama unfolding around him – but he will have to make a decision soon. Does he stay with Christie or with Jackson when that split inevitably happens? That’s why I cannot give him more bacon or tofu – since we do not know which way he will go. Or does he do the actual smart thing – and start something else on the side? Let’s face it – there are several people that could use a leader and he could fit that role. Sadly – I see him struggling with the decision and will end up doing something foolish.

Nicole Anthony / Jessica Milagros – 2 strips of Tofu each – similar to the sheep in this weeks Veto competition – these 2 are just running around haphazardly trying not to get caught and put in a pen. I know it’s hard for them to try and figure out what to do and who to do it with because of the dynamics of the house – but they really are so disconnected and scared if they try to do anything- they will be seen as a threat. They just sit back and wait for a miracle

Analyse Talvera – 3 strips of Tofu – as I said in the opening, this should have been an easy week for Analyse – but for some reason, she wanted to keep Sam in the house. Not sure why and not sure why she would stir up some crap within her alliance that now has several of them starting to doubt her. She did drop a little gem on the live feeders about a certain peak, summit, or as some may say “CLIMAX” that she has never been able to reach… not even with Jack. Perhaps that is why she is always in such a nasty hateful mood?

That brings us to the Tofurkey of the Week – and for the 2nd time this season – that award goes to Christie Murphy. Geez… can this girl ever keep her mouth shut??? Does she not realize that the reason she is always stressing and feeling the negative energy in and around her – is all self-inflicted? She has an advantage in the game that no one else has – her connection to Tommy – who should be the ONLY sounding board she goes to with all of this info. Instead, she blabs to everyone and its over a month into the game – and she still does not realize that everything she says makes its way around. All of the re-tells of her conversations make it much much worse – and will be the death to her in the game. She even had the nerve to complain about not being able to trust people in the house and missed her friends on the outside who she could be real to! YOU GOT TOMMY for all that! I have no sympathy for her breakdown this week – or at all the rest of the game. Ever hear the joke “Doctor, it hurts when I do this? Then stop doing this!” At first – her crying was getting her sympathy from others – now… not so much. Although – it would be quite funny if somehow she ends up teaming up with Nick again.

OK – well, now we have ourselves something to watch – as the Six Shooters turning on each other this early in the game SHOULD be fun… but just wait – they will all hash it out – apologize – have a love circle – and steamroll the next 5 weeks. Here’s to hoping they don’t and go for each other’s jugulars!!!

That brings me to my question of the week… if there is a split between Jackson & Christie – who do you think Jack will be more loyal to & why?
