Big Brother 21 Episode 22 Recap: OTEV Comes To Christie’s Rescue

This week on Big Brother 21 Christie found herself on the block after failing to win the America’s Field Trip competition. She has since spent most of her time crying and trying to understand why she was voted to compete. Most of the other houseguests were looking at that third nomination as a blessing and were ready to make a move against Christie. But Tommy and OTEV put a stop to that in Wednesday night’s episode.

The episode picked up right after Tommy nominated Cliff and Kat. Tommy lets us know that Kat is his target and the worst thing that could happen this week is Christie going home on his HOH as the third nominee. And that’s what Kat and Cliff (and Jackson, Holly and Nicole) are banking on. They know that if Christie remains on the block they could easily get her out the door.

Christie is really upset that she’s on the block and just can’t wrap her head around why America might not like her and why she was voted to compete in the America’s Field Trip competition. She does seem to think this wasn’t any kind of reward and knows she’s in real danger if she doesn’t win veto this week.

Speaking of veto, it’s time to pick players for the veto competition. Joining Tommy, Christie, Cliff and Kathryn in the competition are Nick (via Christie’s HG choice) and Cliff (via Cliff’s HG pick).

Analyse checks in with Jackson and Holly and lets him know that she has no idea if what’s left of the six is together or not. Jackson says his plan was to get to the end with them, but Christie for some reason wanted himself and Holly on the block. So Jackson floats the idea to Analyse what a great opportunity they have with Christie to be on the block this week. Analyse tells him that it’s in his best interest to work with Christie again. Jackson lets us know that he would “rather play in traffic.”

So it looks like Analyse, Nick and Tommy are the only ones this week who really want Christie to come off the block. Even Jessica, who loves Christie, knows that she has a better shot in the game with Cliff and Kat in her corner at the end of this week.

Let’s get to the veto competition and see if this golden opportunity is even going to be doable. For this veto competion, the houseguests are playing OTEV. We all know how that works. Jackson is the first person knocked out. Cliff is the next person out of the competition, in an emotional face off with Kat. Cliff was headed up the OTEV ramp but was passed up by Kat. Christie is out next. That leaves Kat, Nick and Tommy. Kat is out next so that means either Tommy or Nick will win the competition. In the final round it’s Tommy that makes it back to OTEV first and wins the Power of Veto.

At the veto meeting Tommy pulls Christie off the block, and since she was nominated because of America’s Field Trip, there will be no replacement nominee. Kat and Cliff remain on the block and one of them will head to jury Thursday night.
