Big Brother 17 Recap: Episode 30 — Vanessa Redraws The Lines

After weeks and weeks of of the same alliances working together, Vanessa decided to redrawn the lines and flip the Big Brother 17 house upside down. Translation: nothing is really going to change because Vanessa still doesn’t realize she’s letting a showmance and a set of twins stick around a little too long.

The episode starts off at the beginning of the Head of Household competition, and since this group of players aren’t great at physical competitions, we get to see about all of this play out because it lasted all of 15 minutes.

We also get to see way too many interviews to fill some time and try to trick TV-only viewers into thinking this competition wasn’t a huge mistake. We finally get to see Liz fall again (remember when she fell during the commercial break last week?). Steve and Meg also drop, which we also knew before the end of last week’s episode. So now we’re at the part that we didn’t see last week.

James is the next person out, so it’s Vanessa, Liz and the jurors that remain. Liz drops next. Jackie is the first juror out because she ends up sitting on the disc. Becky is off soon after then Shelli. John has earned his way back into the game.

So it’s John vs. Vanessa. And Vanessa offers John a deal but he doesn’t accept the deal because he doesn’t want the others to know they made a deal, but he tells us he wants the deal. So John drops and Vanessa is the new Head of Household.

Vanessa tells us that she wants to flip the house on its head, re-draw lines and that anything is possible. So she’s going to target Austin and the twins then? Haha, yeah right.

Speaking of Austwins, they are NOT happy that Johnny Mac is back in the house. They know that he’s coming for them and it is in their best interest to get him right back out the door. Liz says to Julia about JMac “Don’t even unpack, you’re done.”

And again, Vanessa says this HOH gives her the chance to “press reset” and “redraw the lines.” This should be good! Are you excited?? Haha, yeah right.

James and Meg think that this would be the week for Vanessa to go for the Austwins (so do all of us). But will she? Maybe! Haha, yeah right.

So what are Steve and Johnny Mac thinking? They agree that they do trust Vanessa and that they need to distant themselves from each other. Vanessa comes into the room after Steve leaves to ask John if he actually fell and why didn’t he take her deal. He explains to her that he couldn’t do that publicly and she said that makes sense and tells him that he’s safe. They agree to continue playing up their feud.

Vanessa goes to Austin and does what she just said. She tells Austin she can’t believe he didn’t take her deal. Austin talks some smack about him and is clearly thinking John is going right back up. But Vanessa does say that she has to do what’s best for her game.

Enter Steve. Vanessa tells him that she thinks it wold be best for the two of them to work with James so they can beat Austin and the twins later in the game. So if they are her targets LATER in the game and Steve and JMac are working with her that leaves Meg and James. There you have it: her redrawn lines. Which aren’t redrawn at all. This is all just more of the same. Sorry, fans.

Vanessa breaks the news to Austin and the twins that she’s not going after John because that’s not best for her game. And since James and Meg slipped up and approached Vanessa about flipping and voting out Steve this past week, Vanessa has the ammo she needs to get them on board. And it works. Liz even thinks that Meg and James have been riding on their coattails (since when does Liz have coattails?). So it’s official. No more suspense folks, the lines have been redrawn!

Oh wait. Vanessa is willing to hear from Meg and James. So she starts fishing for any information on Austin. And they come up with nothing. And they actually show how much they care about each other and THAT is what Vanessa needs to nominate them. She will literally use anything whether it makes sense or not.

After James remembers that he and Vanessa had a deal that she wouldn’t put him and one other person of his choosing on the block and decide not to take it to her, ii’s time for the nomination ceremony. To to no surprise, she nominates Meg and James for eviction.

So Vanessa did tell us in a DR session that she knows that she’s at the bottom of the Austwins trio and that’s why she needs John in the game and on her side. But this was the week to go for them and she didn’t. Sure that move would have put the Austwins blood on her hands, but it also could have given everyone else who is currently not voting for her in the end a reason to actually vote for her. It’s getting to the point now where it’s too late to take more than one of the Austwins out.

Do you think Vanessa should have gone for Austwins this week?
