Big Brother 20 Episode 31 Recap: Crazy HGs, Filler And Emojis

Do you ever question your life while your watching Big Brother?

I found myself doing just that during Wednesday’s episode of Big Brother 20. There I was sitting there watching people trapped in a house on a Los Angeles studio lot going insane, and then a grown man in a giant yellow emoji costume comes out of the diary room. And I just had to ask myself what I am doing? What am I watching?

And since this was a pretty slow episode, I had a lot of time to think about that. I decided there are worse things to do with your time and so I shook that thought off. But it’s still lingering in the back of mind. Why do we watch? Share your reasons in the comments below, please.

Anyway, Wednesday night’s episode picked up right after Tyler nominated Haleigh and Scottie for eviction. Tyler lets us know that he would rather see Haleigh go this week since she actually openly targeted him. And despite what Tyler has been saying or doesn’t remember, he actually told Scottie that he is the pawn immediately after the nominations. Haleigh and Scottie know their only hope is to win veto.

Tyler doesn’t tell Haleigh she is the pawn but lets her know that he had to put Scottie up because everyone wants Scottie out. Haleigh asks if he’s sure she’s not the target and he won’t explicitly say she isn’t.

And since there’s little else to talk about on that, we get ourselves a Tyler getting his hair straightened segment followed by a Tyler/Angela “is it a showmance?” segment.

We get a break in the filler when it’s time to pick players for the veto competition. Joining Tyler, Haleigh and Scottie are Kaycee, Sam (via Scottie’s HG choice) and JC.

And back to filled. This time we get another Sam is crazy segment. This time it’s more about her moods and the fact that she feels like a crazy cat lady walking around in sweat pants and tooth paste on her shirt. OK, so change your pants, Sam. That’s doable, yes?

Let’s just get to the veto competition. This week’s veto competition is emoji themed, and it’s hosted by Brett in the giant emoji costume I mentioned earlier. The players are given a bunch of balls that look like emojis and they have to move their emojis from one side of a see-saw to the other. They then have to balance the emojis on a shovel-like surface and not drop them. The first person to transfer all their emojis without dropping wins the Power of Veto.

It’s a struggle for every of the players and while Tyler was in the lead for awhile, he dropped a ball and had to reset. That allowed Jc and Haleigh to catch up but in the end it was Kaycee who got the win. That’s her second veto of the season.

So Haleigh and Scottie know one of them is toast. Tyler tells Haleigh not to freak out but as soon as Scottie tells her that he has been told he’s the pawn she freaks out. So now Haleigh believes she’s the target. Kaycee lets Haleigh know that she’s not going home and that Scottie doesn’t really know what’s going on (that he’s the real target).

At the veto meeting, Kaycee surprises no one and does not use the Power of Veto. So either Haleigh or Scottie will be evicted Thursday night.
