We got to watch our first Big Brother Over The Top Live Diary Rooms of the season and what we learned is you either hate Danielle or you hate Shelby. Those are basically the two sides of the house.
Oh, and Cornbread snores.
One by one, the houseguests went into the diary room for a (FINALLY) unscripted, one-take, raw look into their minds and games. Just another reason to love Big Brother Over The Top, basically. So lets get to the DR recaps.
These live Diary Room sessions will air twice a week, Tuesdays & Fridays, at 7:30 PM PT (10:30 PM ET) and are available only through All Access and the Live Feeds. You can watch them as they happen or rewind later for on-demand. These may be one of the very best things of the new BBOTT for their opportunity at an open, honest, and unscripted insight to the HGs’ game.
Shane
Shane says he didn’t really have a strategy going into the game. He just wanted to be friendly and be himself. As we know, he aligned with Scott, Monte and Cornbread right away in the game, but he let’s us know that some stuff is going down and Cornbread is on the outs.
He also lets us know that despite how obsessed with Whitney and Morgan Monte might be, he wants to break up that little girl trio with Whitney as his main target. That could spell trouble in bromance paradise.
Shane feels he’s in a good place int he game because he thinks he’s manipulating Monte so he is controlling that side of the house and he has Danielle controlling the other side. And of course they meet in the middle.
“We are kind of like Bonnie and Clyde,” Shane says. OK, Shane, just don’t forget how that story ends.
Neely
Neely tells us that coming into the house her strategy was to really dumb herself down and be friendly and gain as much info about everyone as possible. She doesn’t know if she’s playing as dumb as she much as she planned. She just couldn’t bring herself to go all in with that. But she’s definitely making friend and hanging out with people.
Those people in particular are Kryssie, Jason, Danielle. She says can trust them and that she feels like they’re genuine.
“We make it pop but can get sh*t handled too,” she says. “I like everyone in the house. Well that’s a lie… Not feeling Shelby. Shelby can kick a rock. I don’t like the fact that she’s playing the game way too aggressive too early. And if I can’t trust you then I can’t work with you. That’s the only person I’m really not digging right now.”
Neely says she definitely wants to win the next HOH so she can possibly get Shelby out.
Justin
Justin tells us that he didn’t know what to expect upon entering the game so didn’t have much of a strategy. It starts developing as it goes, he says.
One thing he is certain of is that the OTT Jamboree alliance disintegrated as soon as it happened.
“Right now I feel like I’m most loyal with Jason,” Justin said. “He’s kept it real since the beginning. It’s like we’ve been friends forever. I appreacite the people who are the most real and sincere. I don’t hold my tongue for anything and I express my mind.”
Aside from Jason he also digs Danielle, Scott and “Kristy.” He also thanks Whitney for washing his drawers.” Who isn’t he liking? You guessed it.
“I’m really not feeling Shelby,” he says. “I Know she’s creating a lot of bad blood. She’s just really fake. It’s kind of crazy to see how everything can go sour. She just hops on anyone’s bandwagon.”
So it should come as no surprise that if he wins HOH he would go for Shelby. He’d also target Monte, he says.
But he’s not really too concerned with winning the next HOH. He’d rather one of his allies take the HOH key.
“I feel like I have a good bit of loyal friends in the house and hope they aren’t going to backstab me too early,” Justin said. “He wants to let one of his allies win the comp. But he’s not going to throw it necessarily.”
Whitney
Whitey said her strategy going into the house was to find the one person that she trusted the most. So like everyone else on that side of the house, she thinks that person is Monte. I’m not sure when they’re all going to compare notes on that, but hopefully sooner rather than later.
So she obviously likes Monte, but her best friend in the house is Morgan, she tells us.
“It’s cliche to say I like everyone in the house, but the person that i like the most is probably Morgan,” she said. “Our personalities are very similar. I can talk to her and it feels like I’m back home and she’s one of my best friends just hanging out.”
And the person she dislikes the most: Danielle.
“Just because she is running the other side of the house that I’m not necessarily aligned with,” Whitney said. “And her being in a showmance with shane really takes a a toll on her alliance. And sometimes Danielle talks about herself too much.”
Whitey says she is going to be gunning for Head of Household because she knows she or one of her girls need to win or she will probably end up the target. And if she does win, she’s going after Danielle and Jason.
“[I’d go after] Jason just for the simple fact that he is already America’s sweetheart,” she said. “He has all kinds of fans already on his side.”
Monte
Monte thinks he’s had a pretty successful first week in the BBOTT house. His plan was to establish that I was a leader but also pick who good allies would be. He feels that he achieved both.
“I really think I have a good shot to go a long way in this game,” he tells us.
Monte says he’s not totally sure who’s on his side and who is brown nosing. He is closest with Shane, Whitney and Morgan, he says but plans to be most loyal to Shane. But then he wants to be as equally loyal to Morgan and Shane. You can’t take everyone to then end, there Monte.
He had no hesitation naming Justin as his least favorite houseguest.
“He’s hilarious but I’m not buying it,” Monte said. “He really irritates me but he really doesn’t know how to shut up.”
Monte says the high point so far was being the first HOH. It helped him get a read on everyone in the house, he said. “I made it mandatory for everyone in the house to come talk to me at least once,” he explained.
And even though Monte initially targeted Jason and then Kryssie, he has been wanting to make the big move of taking Danielle out this week. He says as of now he doesn’t have the numbers but there’s still time and it could still happen. He just really wants his Shane back. She’s just distracting him from their bromance a little too much.
Jason
Jason let it all hang out. He basically told us how it is and how it’s going to be. He said he tried not to come in with clear-cut strategies like last time. This time around he wanted to see what he was getting into before he made any plans. He’s still not sure what to make of everything, but he’s sure of a few things.
“I dont’ like anyone,” he said matter-of-factly. “Don’t need no new friends. I don’t need none of y’all. People are growing on me but all these people are fake. I’m just trying to play along.”
He also says he’s finding it hard to align with people.
“Nobody every really wants me in their alliance for some reason,” he said. “I wouldn’ say I’m really aligned with anyone. I would say I’m probably most loyal to Danielle. Kryssie has been there for me this week but I also know she is a time bomb.I’m not in anybody’s ship. I’m the tugboat. This week was all about let’s get Jason out. I have to fight for myself probably from this point on.”
His high point in the game was obviously winning that veto and saying “y’all can suck it,” he said. “Clearly now I get to stay and there was going to be no chance of that if I wouldn’t have won that veto.”
Morgan
Morgan points out that coming into the house she did not want to work with her sister at all. But that plan changed fast. She said she was expecting to work with the guys more than the girls, but the opposite has happened. Well, aside from Monte.
Speaking of Monte, she promises there’s no showmance there and that she wants to break up the Monte/Shane showmance so she can have Monte all to herself, you know in a totally non-showmance kind of way.
“I consider Monte one of my really good friends,” she said. “This is not a showmance. I do not have a crush on him. I’m happily taken.”
So all that non-showmance love for Monte but none for Danielle.
“I do not like Danielle,” Mogan said. “I do not trust her. I think her and Shane are dangerous.”
The live Diary Room sessions report continues on the next page…
All of the BBOTT Houseguests got a chance to visit the DR and speak to the Feedsters which made for an incredibly long event, but it was still fascinating and a top moment of the week so far. This should be a standout even of the Big Brother Over The Top season.
Next up was Scott with his take on the season so far.
Scott
Scott reminds us of the guys alliance he formed right away with Monte, Shane and Cornbread and that that’s falling apart bit as he’s had it with Cornrbread.
“Cornbread has been getting on my nerves lately,” Scott said. “I almost detrimented (sic) my own game just because of some of the things Cornbread has been saying.”
So he’s ready to vote Cornbread out but he does plan to stay loyal to Monte and Shane, he said. But he’s also been working with Jason a little and he also really likes Alex.
“I really like everyone,” he said. My top four order would be: Alex, Shane, Monte, Jason.”
He doesn’t dislike Justin, but he definitely has his eye on him, he said. “I think he’s the biggest threat,” he explained. “His stories are so funny and I feel like he’s playing a really good game right now.”
Shelby
Shelby said her strategy was to lay low and throw competitions but she got really bored and did the complete opposite of that. She also wanted a showmance but no one is interested in her, she said.
Shelby is scattered all over the place, so she’s a hard one to read even when she’s looking right at you in the diary room. She does tell us that she’s aligned with Morgan, Whitney, and Alex and that she’s also liking Scott.
And even though Jason isn’t really feeling Shelby at the moment, she really likes him, she says.
So her least favorites are Danielle and Cornbread.
“I don’t like anybody who watches Harry Potter and doesn’t read Harry Potter — Danielle,” she said. “Cornbread thinks he’s so funny but he isn’t.”
Alex
Like Morgan, Alex had no plans to work with her sister. But that’s just how it ended up. But if she needs to, she’s willing to let her sister go.
“I’m willing to screw her over later if I have to but at the moment she’s the only person I trust,” Alex said.
Aside from Morgan, Alex has established a couple of other strong bonds.
“There’s a lot of great personalities here,” she said. “I really like Whitney. I trust her for the most part. She is just a really good person. Scott is awesome. I think he’s in a really good position in the house. We both kind of nerd out.”
And of course she isn’t feeling Danielle. She said their personalities kind of clash and that she doesn’t think Danielle listens to what others say. So her goal is to break up the Danielle and Shane showmance.
“They are running the house,” she said. “Monte thinks he’s running the house but he’s not. If I get HOH I am breaking that up.”
Kryssie
Kryssie lets us know that she’s had a hard time adjusting to the game. She’s not unhappy and isn’t going to self-evict or anything, but it’s been tough for her.
“I’ve been homesick. I was all sorts of messed up hormonally,” she said. “This is a huge shock to all of us. I’m blindsided by a lot of things. All of this is new to me. The fact that there is a 10 am is not something I’m at all familiar with.”
She also didn’t fall into the kind of alliance she’d hoped for.
“I was really hoping for a body builder to bond with,” she explained. “I was hoping to find myself a really strong male to align with. That went out the window.”
This whole alliance thing has been complete garage so far. She only believes Jason’s promise. He is her ride or die. “That one was mine, so I took him.”
As for the relationships she has formed, she kept it all pretty simple. She loves Jason, Justin, Neely and Danielle and thinks that Shelby is trash.
Cornbread
Cornbread was another one who was hard to connect to in the Diary Room. He just sort of rambled a bit and didn’t seem to have any passion.
He reminded us that he is in the guys alliance, but to my surprise, he says he’s most loyal to Scott and not Monte.
“I’m most loyal to Scott,” he said. “I want to make sure that if I don’t win this, he wins it. I want us both to go all the way to the end. I get along with everyone in the house.”
Cornbread said that America putting him up sort of changed his outlook on the whole game. He said he’s even working with Jason a little now. He said he’s now aware that he needs more than that one alliance. And he also thinks he knows why America did nominate him.
“I hate that America put me up there,” he said. “I feel like America put be up there because they like me and wanted to challenge me.”
Yeah, no.
And even though he might actually be in danger of leaving this week, he was currently unaware during his DR session.
“I’m going to try to build relationships with these people all the way up until I walk out the door,” he said implying that would be much later than this week. “I’m trying to keep everything out in the open and be sincere.”
Danielle
The last Diary Room of the night came from Danielle. She let us know that her original strategy was to find someone that she genuinely had a connection with. Right now the strongest connection is with Jason and Shane. I think she’s struggling to figure out which one is more solid, however.
“I’m aligned with Jason, Shane, Justin, Neely and Kryssie,” she explained. “I’m most loyal to Shane and Jason. So far this week I think that it’s going pretty well and that we’re all on the same page. Being loyal to them is benefiting me to far.”
Danielle said her high point so far was when Jason won veto. “I was so excited,” she said. “If you watched, you saw me running across the yard and jumping on him. I really love that kid. I was genuinely happy that he got to take himself off the block. I did not want to be sitting there next to him.”
Since she’s on the block next to Cornbread and Kryssie, she’s feeling safe.
“My plan to stay in the house has been to put the focus on someone else,” she said. “I feel like I have votes to stay. The house seems to be leaning toward voting out Cornbread. It’s kind of made it easy to switch the target to him. I feel like I’ve been a very big part in orchestrating that. If Kryssie goes home instead, I’ll be very surprised.”

These were seriously fantastic and such a welcome change from those awful, boring, and painfully scripted DRs that we see during the regular summer seasons.
