Adam Poch’s Big Brother 19 Player Rankings – Week 04

“History has a way of repeating itself.” Another week and another probably blindside on Jessica & Cody. I just do not understand some of the game play going on this season of Big Brother – but it has kept this season very very interesting.

Not sure about you, but I am loving Big Brother 19. I do not even know who to root for anymore since some of the players I liked early are playing very badly. Heck, some players I like one week, the following week I want to go home. Nevertheless – this week will end with some massive fireworks – so get your popcorn ready!!

BUT FIRST – lets hand out some crispy bacon for the players that helped push their game forward, and some funky tofu to the players who played not so well!!

Paul Abrahamian – 5 strips of Bacon – if I told you that Cody would come back into the game after Paul’s safety ended – and Cody or his #1 ally won HoH – and Paul would be 100% safe, you would have thought I was bonkers. Guess what, all the above happened. Paul has been able to once again pull all his sheep together and put in place a plan to blindside the HoH. The fact that he still has all of these people fooled will keep earning him bacon until they compare notes, or when he can trade in all the bacon for $500K.

Josh Martinez – 4 strips of Bacon – is Josh the most annoying HG this season? Yes! Is Josh’s constant attack on Mark, Jessica, & Cody getting old? YES! Is Josh doing a great job pretending to be sad that he is going home? YES!!! We are only 4 weeks in – but this will be the 2nd massive blindside, and Josh will make an epic speech after he stays. While this may not be good for his game in the long run, it helps him now.

Kevin Schlehuber – 3 strips of Bacon – sure, people are catching on to Kevin’s erratic behavior, but no one really cares enough to do something about it. I thought in my preseason evaluations that Kevin would not want to make waves, but he is doing just the opposite. How he has been able to do it for this long is a testament to just how good his social game is. Kevin has allies everywhere and for now, he is still as safe as a pig at a Vegetarian’s house.

Jason Dent – 2 strips of Bacon – early on Jason was seen as one of the outsiders and his name was constantly being thrown around as a target, or backup target. With Mark & Elena being cast aside by Paul & his minions – Jason has pretty much filled one of those spots. We have to wonder if Jason’s undying loyalty to Alex will prevent him from taking a shot at Paul if he comes into power soon, or if he has fully drank the Kool-Aid and is just here to push Paul to the end.

Alex Ow – 2 strips of Bacon – coming off HoH it is very important to re-integrate yourself into the rest of the house – and Alex has seemed to do that perfectly. Along with Jason, Alex has taken the other spot in Paul’s army left vacant by Marlena. Her gift of gab and competition prowess is exactly what Paul needs in a #2 – and look for her to make some more moves that help him more than her.

Christmas Abbott – 1 strip of Bacon – Christmas did very well in the last HoH (yay a competition that she could actually compete in!) – and while she is still a big threat to the rest of the house, she plays it off pretty well and knows how to gain some sympathy while also getting some info out of players. Who knows how much longer she will be able to keep the target off her back, but while other players self destruct, she keeps moving forward.

Matthew Clines & Raven Walton – 1 strip of Bacon to share – as I mentioned last week, until either one of them do anything on their own – they are just one person to me in regards to the rankings. Matt & Raven are doing a great job keeping up the facade that they are on board with getting Josh out – but they are slowly pulling back from Marlena and when the votes come out on Thursday – look for them to stay out of the fracas – and then go back to doing not much else (well, Matt will eat cereal & Raven will talk about her illness).

Elena Davies – 1 strip of Tofu – wow Elena jumped back into an “alliance” with Jessica & Cody pretty quickly and in doing so – lost the ability to read the rest of the house. She was actually doing a pretty good job before reading the rest of the HGs but her loyalty to Mark is starting to cloud her judgement. I am looking forward to seeing her reaction when Julie reads the votes on Thursday.

Mark Jansen – 2 strips of Tofu – if you think Elena jumped back on the Jody train – Mark was already there welcoming back Cody and begging for a fresh start. This has pushed Mark near the top of the target list as he is so blatantly floating back and forth to the power. Even Cody is not impressed by Mark’s wishy washy behavior.

Cody Nickson – 3 strips of Tofu – despite winning his way back into the house, Cody learned absolutely nothing from the last time he played and went back to isolating himself in the HoH room with Jessica. He should have been trying to make amends with the rest of the house & figure out a way to move forward in the game. His time in the game will be extended a little with Jessica’s power should they need it, but he will always be a target as long as he in the house.

Ramses Soto – 5 strips of Tofu – oh poor poor Ramses, this kid just could not catch a break all season despite being nothing but a sweet kid. Everyone pegged him as a conniving mastermind who was acting really shady – when in reality he was just fanboying out the entire time and enjoying being on Big Brother.

As a superfan, Ramses should have realized that him being on the block next to Josh was not the best pairing to ensure Josh went home. He had so many opportunities to talk to Jessica and help her realize how bad this could turn out. He will finally realize it on Thursday when he is hanging out with Julie Chen.

That brings us to the Tofurkey of the Week. If you are a regular reader of my column, you know when someone wins HoH & Veto in the same week – they usually get the top spot (5 strips of bacon). This week however despite winning both – Jessica Graf earns the lowest honor of the week and this is her 2nd Tofurkey in 4 weeks into the game. Jessica is playing this week VERY personal – and that is not how to play BB. You have to put your personal feelings aside and make smart, well thought out moves.

Why Jessica, why would you not put someone on the block next to your target that is much more well liked? Putting up Ramses, who does not really have many allies in the house was probably the worst move she could have made this week. Big Brother 101 – pawns sometimes go home. You never put someone on the block, even as a pawn, that you are upset if they walk out the door.

Jessica still has the Halting Hex – and she will be able to protect herself or Cody if they get into trouble in the next 3 weeks – but all the hard work Jessica did to work her way back into the good graces with the house went out the window as soon as her & Cody went back to playing grab-ass!

My question of the week is – if you were Jessica, who would you have put up next to Josh to ensure he went home this week?

There we have it kids – bacon & tofu for the HGs to enjoy while we wait for the mayhem that will surely follow the live eviction. Most weeks I would say there is always a chance to flip the votes – but this week is all but guaranteed to be a 7-3 vote with Ramses walking the plank. No one has any reason to change their minds.

Let me know what you think of my rankings this week – as well as answer my Question of the Week in the comments section below.
