Big Brother 19 Episode 13 Recap: All Of Jessica’s Dreams Come True

I’m not sure a houseguest has ever had a better week in the house (aside from any of the 18 winners) as Jessica is having in the Big Brother 19 house this week. She got her man back, she won Head of Household and she has that Halting Hex riddle tucked away in her mind.

Sunday night’s episode picks up right after Cody won the Battle Back and his spot in the house. He tells us the first time around he took risks and fumbled, but this time around he’s going to listen to Jessica.

And the listening starts right away. Jessica tells Cody who treated her well and who didn’t. She also informs him that America chose her to receive the Halting Hex from the Den of Temptation. Cody is thrilled, specially considering how wronged he previously felt from Paul’s power.

Jessica tells us that Cody will not be going rogue this time around. She implies that she’s running the show this time. This will be fun to see play out.

Elsewhere, it’s “back to square one,” Christmas says. The others gather to discuss what they’re going to do with Cody back. Paul tells Josh that if Cody wins HOH the two of them are going on the block. Paul tells everyone it’s up to all of them to get him out. Paul says they don’t even need to discuss who goes up and out if one of them wins. It’s 10 against 2, he says.

On to the HOH competition! There’s a bad rip-off of the COPS theme song, so it looks like a police-themed HOH competition. The HGs have to hold a long, flimsy pole against a stoplight and overtime someone is eliminated, that HG gets to pick a player still in the game to be punished. Oh, and Christmas can actually play this one!

Kevin is the first HG to drop. After 17 seconds. Then Mark drops. After 25 seconds. And Paul drops right after. Wow. Kevin picks Cody to get punished. And a gargage man comes up and dumps garbage on him (this is a great version of this competition, btw).

Mark also picks Cody for the punishment. And he gets screamed at by fat man late for Yoga. But Cody is a marine, so he isn’t phased by someone yelling in his face. Paul also chooses Cody. This time he receives some wet cement on his back.

Jason is the fourth one out and decides to punish Jessica instead of Cody. Jessica gets graffitted. It does’t phase her. Elena is out next and Cody gets ketchup and mustard dumped all over him. Matt drops next and, of course, also picks Cody. So more garbage comes his way.

Raven drops next and sends the yoga screamer back. Cody doesn’t flinch. Josh drops after 38 minutes and picks Jessica to punish, despite Cody heckling him when he dropped. So Josh decides to heckle Cody back. He pulls out some more meatballs insults and doesn’t stop.

Cody falls out of the competition after almost an hour and a half. Cody picks Ramses to be punished. But Ramses, Christmas and Jessica remain. But not long after, Ramses falls, leaving Christmas and Jessica.

Christmas eventually falls and Jessica becomes the new Head of Household. And Josh knows he’s doomed. And Paul isn’t feeling too confident either.

Jessica tells us that she’s not going to play the same game Cody did when he was HOH. She’s going to stick to deals and promises and try to regain some trust in the house. And Cody is going to let her run the week. He tells us that he put her through Hell during his reign, so he’s just going to shut up and listen to her this week.

Since Josh knows he’s in trouble so he decides to go and talk to Jessica to convince her to go after a bigger target. But Cody tells Josh that Jessica doesn’t have time for him and that neither one of them want to talk to him.

They do find time for their former allies as they, one by one, actually couple by couple, comes kissing ass. And Mark lays it on thick. But Cody and Jessica aren’t buying it. They both tell us they’re not making the same mistake twice.

Paul and Cody finally have their talk and Paul explains why he targeted him. Cody says he respects that move and that he gains nothing from targeting Paul again. Cody even mentions them working together and they both pretend to be down with it. But neither of them are really down with it. They’re both going to be gunning for each other.

So what are Jessica and Cody going to do with all this power? Jessica wants to work on the longterm goal so Josh is an easier target this week. She thinks taking a shot at Paul is too risky this week, so maybe if they take a shot at Josh instead of Paul or anyone else, they can pick up some numbers. So it sounds like this week will be Josh and a pawn.

At the nomination ceremony, that’s exactly what we get. Jessica nominates Josh and Ramses for eviction. That’s not exactly what Jessica and Cody fans were expecting, but we’ll see how the week plays out.
