‘Big Brother 18’ Recap: Episode 20 — Paulie Shows His Bad Side As The Target Shifts

Big Brother 18 finally decided to show the at-home viewers a bit of who Paulie is and what’s going on with him and Zakiyah. We also got to see just how much Paulie is running the house when Paul turned on one of his closest allies.

Oh, and don’t miss the part of this post where I mute the TV and recap the veto competition so I don’t have to hear Nicole speak. It’s some of my finest work to date.

The episode picks up on Day 45 right after Paul nominated Bridgette and Paulie for eviction. Paul lets us know that Bridgette is his target and Paulie is his pawn. Paulie wants to win veto, pull himself off so that Paul can throw Da’Vonne up there, Paul explains. Paul says if at the end of the week the house wants Day out, so be it.

And of course Da’Vonne is already suspicious that Paulie went on the block next to Bridgette instead of Nicole. Da’Vonne decides to do a little talking to Bridgette, but she decides that Day is the one she can’t trust instead of the rest of the house who has wanted Bridgette out all season. So Bridgette goes to talk to Paul and he makes her think that she’s actually a pawn and that Da’Vonne is the target. Paul still wants her out, but he’ll be fine if Day goes, he says.

It’s time for producers to finally introduce us to Zaulie. For the at-home viewers, Zakiyah and Paulie have been showmancing all season. And since Paulie has been torturing her lately on the Live Feeds, the show has to show us some of what’s going down because it can’t be ignored. So we get this segment that makes Zakiyah look like a stalker. And let me be the first to tell you, that’s now how it’s been. Paulie has lead her on all season and he’s suddenly decided that he wants ALL the girls out, including Z, and he plans to belittle them all along the way. Paulie is scum and the edit producers gave us didn’t show that enough. Trust me, the “never cared” line from his was nothing compared to the things he’s been saying.

Zakiyah decides to ask Paulie if he’s OK and that she’s not the one in the hot seat. And he continues to condescend her and makes her feel bad and brings her to tears. And again, what you saw on the show was nothing. Paulie is an a-hole and he loves it so I don’t feel bad saying it.

I’m not even going to address the Michelle/Paul segment. I’m too embarrassed for Michelle and myself for watching this show. Let’s go see who gets picked to play in the veto competition.

Joining Paul, Bridgette and Paulie in the competition are Corey (drawn by Paul), Victor (picked by Paulie via HG choice), and Natalie (picked by Bridgette). So Day is shut out … things could be looking bad for her now.

Paulie lets Nicole and Corey know that he’s over Zakiyah and she’s going to be upset when she realizes he’s making everyone target Da’Vonne this week. So he plans on winning the next HOH and putting Z up on the block. And of course Nicole, who is playing not with the guys, but for the guys feels all comfortable and great (despite the fact that a girl never wins and rarely makes it to the end when they’re mixed in with a guys’ alliance). So much dumb gameplay this season.

It’s time for the veto competition. And oh yeah, Nicole is hosting with her nasal/shrill whine. Therefore I’m going to mute this part and tell you what I think is going on. Ok Nicole is talking. I think she’s telling them the name of the competition. The HGs are applauding. There are some race tracks and it looks like the HGs have to run and push some buttons. I see the word rainbow. Not sure what that means. Nicole is still reading stuff from a clipboard. Oh, there’s the veto medal. So I think that means who ever wins this competition must win that veto medallion.

Bridgette is saying things while looking stressed in the DR. Probably something like “If I don’t win this veto I’m screwed.” Or “I’m alone in the house so my only option is to win veto.” Oh Paul is talking in the DR. He’s probably saying “Pissed” Or “Friendship.” Now Corey is talking. He’s probably saying something like “What is the word crow?”

Oh Corey had a false start I think and is the first one out. Doh. He goes to the sidelines and looks even dumber than usual. James holds up one of those giant finger things you see at basketball games and I think Nicole’s eyes got wide at the sight of such a large finger.

Victor in the DR appears to be saying “durrr merrrrrp doooopppeeee.” But I’m not sure.

Oops, I think Bridgette was the next person out. Now Natalie is talking about stuff in the DR and motioning her hands a lot, so that probably means she’s the next person out. Yep. That leaves Victor, Paul and Paulie. And we’ve got a Paulie DR. He’s probably saying “I never lose stuff! Any stuff! I’m bred for this. I’m a Cala-furry. I can do this in my sleep type thing. Type thing. Type thing.”

Paul is the next person out. So that leaves Victor and Paulie and since Paulie never loses, let’s just go ahead and say he wins. Oh look, yes he won. Nicole is about to hand him the veto and whine some more words and then I’ll unmute the TV and get back to a normal recap.

Da’Vonne thinks she still has a chance to influence the game this week and lets us know in the DR that she might be able to work some magic this week to get Nicole on the block. Oh, how I wish, Da’Vonne. How I wish. Day goes to Bridgette and tells her that there’s going to be a plan B, so she should focus on Nicole becoming the other nominee. But Bridgette isn’t having any of it.

Oh and look, now it’s time for Paulie to lead Zakiayah on some more. Despite what he said to her earlier and then to half of the house. And now we understand why he’s cuddling her. He’s about to break the news to Z that Paul is going to nominate Da’Vonne. He knows Z loves Da’Vonne and he’s trying to soften the blow. He’s despicable. And since he only cares about the guys in this game, when she throws Paul’s name out to him, Paulie decides to run and tell Paul. So now we’ve got a third renom option for to throw the at-home viewers off a bit since it was looking a little too obvious the renom was going to be Da’Vonne.

But since we know Zakiayah isn’t in danger this week, let’s get to Da’Vonne figuring things out like she always does. She knows she’s about to go on the block, so she goes to talk to Paul. And Paul tries to break it to Day that she’s going on the block. She tells him that if she goes on the block, she’s at risk at going home because she doesn’t trust Corey and Nicole. Paul spews some lies to Da’Vonne but she knows better. She knows something is up.

So at the veto ceremony, Paulie uses the veto, and Paul follows Paulie’s commands and put Da’Vonne up in his place. Because what Paulie says goes, and no one refuses to do otherwise.
