Julie Chen Moonves Will Remain The Host Of Big Brother

Julie Chen hosts Big Brother on CBS

There’s been a lot of uncertainty in the past week or so about whether or not Julie Chen will quit Big Brother but according to reports today it sounds like Julie Chen is here to stay. At least for a few more years.

Deadline is reporting that Julie Chen’s contract does run through at least the upcoming Celebrity Big Brother 2 season this winter and one more summer of Big Brother, season 21. People magazine similarly shares a source who says, “She will continue to work on Big Brother and looks forward to hosting the show for years to come.”

It’s been an interesting standoff of sorts between Julie and CBS after her husband, Les Moonves, left the company under a dark cloud last week and Julie parted ways with The Talk this week. Meanwhile, in her past two studio appearances, she’s ended the show with a sign-off as “I’m Julie Chen Moonves,” a variation of her typical “From outside the Big Brother house, I’m Julie Chen. Goodnight.”

Despite her doubling down on the support of her husband and his departure from CBS it does appear that Julie Chen is here to stay, at least for now, as the host of Big Brother. That’s great news for the series as I couldn’t imagine another host of the series, but maybe someday we’ll have to find out what that means for the show.

Are you glad that Julie Chen will remain the host of Big Brother? If she decided to leave who would you want to fill that role? Who could pick up the mantle of “But First”?
