Big Brother 22 Episode 14 Recap: BB Basement Unleashes New Powers

The Big Brother 22 houseguests learned there’s been a basement under the house all of this time. And there are three brand-new powers down there, just waiting to be brought into the game! OK, it’s not really a basement, but there is a new competition and some new powers in the game. But more on that shortly.

Sunday night’s episode picks up right after Christmas won the Head of Household competition. Cody and Dani are mad about Kaysar’s eviction speech. Nicole is so happy that Christmas won HOH because she saw her “game flash before her eyes” when Da’Vonne almost won. It seems Dani took Kaysar’s love triangle comment literally. When he said Cody, Dani and Nicole were in a love triangle, he was using it as a metaphor. Kaysar didn’t actually mean the three of them were in love. It’s actually embarrassing that grown adults don’t know what a metaphor is.

Meanwhile, Da’Vonne, Tyler and Bayleigh talk about their alliance, the Slick Six putting up each other head to head in the HOH competition. Da’Vonne is mad, as she should be. Cody comes in and tries to clean things up. He says he was frazzled after Kevin picked Cody and Nicole to go head-t0-head. He says he just saw Da’Vonne and said her name along with Kevin’s. Da’Vonne is more concerned with why Dani picked Bayleigh and Da’Vonne to go head to head.

Christmas gets to work on who to nominate this week. And since Nicole and Dani have been planting seeds against Da’Vonne and Bayleigh for weeks and weeks, it’s an easy move for Christmas. Even though Da’Vonne and Bayleigh think they’re good with Christmas.

Now it’s time for the houseguests to learn about the new twist, the Big Brother Basement. Inside the basement are three brand new powers. No one will know who wins the powers because they will be competing in complete darkness.

So the houseguests head to the BB basement and get started. They have to search around in completely darkness among trash and muck looking for power icons that fit into three power podiums. Each person who finds a correct icon gets a power.

And the competition is a free for all. So they’re all in their together looking for the correct pieces. David is the first person to find a power. Dani finds the next power. And Christmas finds the last power. The BB Basement is closed.

But what are the powers? Let’s find out. Christmas is called to the Diary Room to learn about her power, “The Blocker.” This lets herself or another houseguest for being a replacement nominee at a veto meeting. It’s good for one of the next three veto meetings.

Dani finds out about her power next. It’s called The Replay” and it let’s a head of household to play in back-to-back HOH competitions. And Dani almost throws a tantrum because the power isn’t that good (and if you think she didn’t then you missed her reaction to it on the Live Feeds).

And finally, David gets to learn about his power, “The Disrupter.” This power will let David disrupt a HOH’s reign by saving one of the nominees and forcing the HOH to name a replacement nominee. It can use used at one of the next three nomination ceremonies.

Dani decides to try to do some damage control with Bayleigh since Dani picked Da’Vonne and Bayleigh to go head to head in the HOH competition. Dani said it was because neither of them would look at them the whole day of the HOH competition.

Bayleigh tells Dani that was because they had heard that Dani was trying to get people to come after Bayleigh and Da’Vonne. Dani claims that’s not true, but of course it is. They basically don’t get anywhere, and rightly so because Dani is obviously lying.

And like every Sunday night, we get a few scenes that make us think there might be some less obvious nomination choices. Christmas pretends that maybe it’s not a good idea to nominate Bayleigh and Da’Vonne. But we’ve seen them setting this up for weeks. And modern BB operates just like this. So I’m not going to even entertain this edit by writing about the other nominee option. Let’s just get to the end of this episode.

At the nomination ceremony, Christmas nominates Bayleigh and Da’Vonne, just like Dani and Nicole have been planning since before Janelle even went home.
