Big Brother 20 Twist: Big Brother Power Apps & Punishments

Julie Chen and Big Brother App twist

The Big Brother 20 twist is here and it’s been busily jumping between crashing and confusing fans, so this should be fun for everyone, right?

Revealed during last night’s premiere, the BB20 twist is pretty much a repackaged Den of Temptation. Using several interactive options, viewers will vote up a HG who will get a “Power App” but as a new angle on this, the lowest vote-getter will receive something too, a “crap app.”

You get to decide which Season 20 Houseguest is trending in the BB house by answering a series of questions.

Each week, the Houseguest who gets the most responses will be considered “trending” and allowed to enter the BB App Store, resulting in power apps or punishments that could crash their game. Once a Houseguest wins a power app or punishment, they are ineligible to receive another one.

You’ve got up to 10 votes while the polls are open—all you’ve got to do is interact with the CBS Messenger Bot!

That last part proved difficult last night when CBS Bot was overwhelmed by responses following the show. We heard from many fans who were frustrated that they couldn’t immediately vote. Eventually they worked it out though.

I *think* it’s all decided by who the fans mention the most when they interact with the Bot. Typing someone’s name counts as a vote here, so regardless of the question, just pound in your favs I suppose.

Ready to try & vote? Visit CBS’s site here for the links to vote.

This week’s vote closes at 12PM ET (9AM PT) today with results revealed on Sunday’s show, but then the vote will open up again next week. And just like in the past viewer vote twists, once someone gets a power or a punishment they’re off the eligibility list, so vote wisely, especially since we know very little about the apps up for grab.

What do you think of the BB App twist? Good idea or worrisome? Viewers are handing out potentially big power with very little details or familiarity with what’s going on, who they really like, and who might actually need it at this point.
