Big Brother 19 Cast: When Will Houseguests Be Revealed? – Update: Date Announced

The Big Brother 19 season is quickly approaching with the new summer of fun set to start on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, but so far there’s still no news on just when we’d be meeting the cast of Houseguests and we’re definitely going to be needing them, right?

Update: Meet the Big Brother 19 cast of Houseguests now!

Julie Chen hosts Big Brother

In recent seasons CBS has provided an early ‘heads up’ announcement preparing us for the exciting reveal of who would be in our summer spotlight and that’s usually shown up weeks in advance. So, where’s that news this season?

Last year we met the Big Brother cast on June 14th, which would be nine days from today, but that was also with the season starting on the 22nd of the month rather than this year’s later start of the 28th. In that case I’d be expecting a similar slide in schedule for a cast announcement around the 19th, two weeks from now. CBS has provided nothing to confirm that though.

The past few years have featured a live streaming reveal of the Big Brother cast on the All Access Live Feeds, which they’ve confirmed will happen again for Big Brother 19, but even that team (CBS Interactive) didn’t have a date to set against that on the calendar. (CBS’s press team and CBS Interactive are different and separate groups.) What’s going on here?

Warning: Speculation Ahead! Typically BBN has received an invite to the season’s press junket in late May, 3+ weeks in advance, but at last check there was no information available on when that would be happening. That also means I still don’t know if we’ll have our usual cast interviews to share. At this point we’re down to maybe two weeks out from when I’d expect the interviews to be held, if things were on a normal routine.

A normal routine, based on my experience in recent seasons, has the Houseguests brought to Los Angeles to enter their hotel room sequester about a week before they go inside the house. That’s how we’ve done our interviews on the Monday or Tuesday before they enter a few days later. So that’s for newbies, about a week early.

From what we’ve heard discussed by returning Vets in past seasons is that they get to show up later in the week, closer to ‘go time.’ If there’s uncertainty over when all the HGs would be arriving then maybe, maybe that’s what’s going on, but honestly I don’t have anything other than the unknowns here.

Going with a simpler explanation, it could be just an overall delay in events this season with the late June premiere for BB19. There could also be an abundance of caution over setting a date that can’t be kept. Last year we saw the cast reveal delayed by a day after the Orlando shooting the day before and that very last minute schedule change created quite a bit of confusion. Of course there’s no way to anticipate a tragic incident impacting any plans, but last year’s abrupt shift could be introducing an abundance of scheduling caution. And don’t forget Kassting’s announcement that all the semi-finalists had been contacted, but I suppose that’s not exactly a binding statement.

So that’s all a lot of speculation and guessing based on what I don’t know about this year’s schedule mixed with what I do know and have heard in past seasons. This is not intended to suggest we’ve got another All-Stars season or even a mixed cast of Newbies and Vets. But while we wait it’s still fun to discuss the possibilities. What do you think will happen with the Big Brother 19 cast? Would you want all new Houseguests, all returning players, or maybe a mix of the two?

Once I hear from CBS for either the press junket (cast interviews) or the Live Feeds streaming event then I’ll immediately share the news. Another good reason to have our Big Brother App along with joining us on Facebook and Twitter.

  1. I’d prefer all newbies. Save All Stars for BB 20. I’m fine with either as long as its not another mixed cast. Regardless I know I’ll end up watching it though.

    • Same. I’d really rather see all fresh faces, but if they’ve gotta do Vets then it better be all Vets. It gets so messy with it mixed. Vets steal the spotlight in the episodes.

      • ITA with ya…….I still think Paul was robbed of the win last yr …… even Nicole couldn’t believe she won🙄seemed like it was rigged for Nicole to win…. and make history for the show…..that one McGyver comp really made me believe that

      • I don’t know if that’s necessarily true. BB Canada just did half vets and half newbies, and they did a pretty good job of giving everyone the spotlight. Of course, the vets did a superb job of turning on each other and voting each other out through most of the first half of the season.

    • I was just going to say the same thing! Save the All Star season for BB 20 and give us a season of newbies this year.

  2. I’m good with all All-Stars or all Newbies-no mixing the two :) That gives each one a fair shot and no pre-conceived ideas of how to play from a couple of vets. I cannot wait!!!

      • Yeap, it’s a good look. Just one thing I notice on the home page, the demarcation between story is hard to find. There used to be a line between each story.

Oh and btw, been totally selfish on my part, I’d like the option to post a picture. LOL

      • Good call on the lines dividing the articles. Those are very faint now. I’ll need to work on that.

I wish I could allow individual privileges on media uploads, but for now the permissions are site-wide.

  3. If it is another season of mixed casts then I am not watching this year. All newbies, or all veterans. Mixed casts suck and Paul was robbed last year. It was the worst BB finale ever.

    • It was Paul’s choice to bring Nicole to the final 2. So he robbed himself.

      • All the vets had a pre arranged agreement. If he brought James the same would have happened. At least Nicole played the game unlike James.

  4. If it is not going to be an all star year, I would like a couple people from BBOTT to come in the house. Most viewers wont know them and it could be fun. In this order: Justin, Shelby, Alex.

  5. I dont think will ever get another all star season unfortunately even for BB20.

This might be an interesting note. It doesn’t mean anything but just my observation. Before BB18 the last 2 seasons with vets was BB13 & 14 back to back seasons. Could the same be for BB18 & 19??

  6. We already know who the cast is. It’s gonna be a bunch of fucbois and bikini models. And one old guy who will be gone the first week.

  7. Maybe they could invite back all the first ones voted off. Or the 3rd to the end (the last one off).

  8. With all due respect, this is a total joke! You say “The Big Brother 19 season is quickly approaching with the new summer of fun set to start on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, but so far there’s still no news on just when we’d be meeting the cast of Houseguests and we’re definitely going to be needing them, right?” but that is bullcrap! Ever since the show has been on they have ALWAYS announced the cast EXACTLY ONE (1) WEEK TO THE DAY of the season premiere!!!!!!!!!! So how is THIS announcement any news at all when we knew WAY BACK IN MARCH (March 16, 2017, to be exact) that the premiere was going to be on June 28, 2017 so I COULD HAVE TOLD YOU WAY BACK THEN when the cast reveal would be….so why EXACTLY would we even need “an early ‘heads up’ announcement preparing us for the exciting reveal of who would be in our summer spotlight and that’s usually shown up weeks in advance” when anyone that couldn’t figure that out on their own are all stupid idiots! That is just called COMMON SENSE….but then again common sense isn’t too common anymore!
You also say that (in relation to your press junket) “A normal routine, based on my experience in recent seasons, has the Houseguests brought to Los Angeles to enter their hotel room sequester about a week before they go inside the house. That’s how we’ve done our interviews on the Monday or Tuesday before they enter a few days later. So that’s for newbies, about a week early.” & as far as I know THEY ARE ALREADY IN SEQYESTER when they are revealed by CBS….again, the cast has ALWAYS BEEN REVEALED EXACTLY ONE (1) WEEK TO THE DAY of the season premiere!!!!!!!!!! The ONLY TIME that there as EVER been a delay in this was last year when “we saw the cast reveal delayed by a day after the Orlando shooting the day before” the scheduled reveal!
Oh, guess what….the date you announced as the cast reveal (June 28, 2017) IS IN FACT EXACTLY ONE (1) WEEK TO THE DAY of the season premiere on June 28, 2017! So please tell me, where EXACTLY is the news there? How about telling me some ACTUAL news that I DIDN’T ALREADY KNOW?

    • This reminds me of Ricky Bobby trying to use “with all due respect.”

Here’s some news you apparently didn’t know: you’re wrong.

The cast is not released “exactly one (1) week to the day of the season premiere.”

In fact, in the past 3 season premieres not one has been one week from the premiere and they’ve all been planned for different days. Let’s take a look.

BB18: Season premiere 6/22 (Wed) & cast reveal scheduled 6/13 (Mon) but delayed one day to 6/14.
BB17: Season premiere 6/24 (Wed) & cast reveal 6/16 (Tues)
BB16: Season premiere 6/25 (Wed) & cast reveal 6/19 (Thurs)

So as you can see, in the past 3 years there have been 3 different release dates scheduled for the cast announcements. Not a single one of them has been “exactly one (1) week to the day of the season premiere.”

As for sequester, you’ve missed the point that newbies are brought in roughly a week in advance of entering the house while Vets don’t have to be there as early. The suggestion here is that if the HGs aren’t going to be there at the regular time then maybe they’re not newbies. And yes, obviously all newbies are in sequester on press junket day. How else would we get to interview them?

You’ve got a long of anger there. Perhaps you could use your energy more productively elsewhere.

  9. Oh god please… NO all stars. One reason is that they are NOT stars, they are ust a reality peeps.

  10. I think they should do what BB Canada did last year and have a handful of vets from other country’s shows. But that’s mostly because I just want to see Tim from BB Australia again.
