Big Brother 19: The Best And Worst Moments Of Week 4

Well that was quite an interesting week of Big Brother 19. Jessica had one heck of a week, and we finally learned what the latest Den of Temptation curse is, the “Temptation Competition.” So needless to say, there were a lot of good and bad moments during Week 4 in the house. Let’s take a look.

The Best and Worst Moments of Big Brother 19 Week 4

Eww. Cameron Loses the Battle Back: That poor guy. Weeks and weeks of the casting process. Evicted Night 1. Sits in a hotel for a month. Almost wins his way back into the BB house. Goes home for good. I hope he’s a strong guy because that would have really destroyed me. Big Brother really needs to cut out the evicted night one garbage. That’s just so, so wrong.

Ahh. Cody Wins The Battle Back: If Cameron couldn’t win, then I wanted Cody to win. Cody was clearly the best choice to bring drama and actual gameplay in the house. Not a lot of the HGs are really playing hard (yet) this season, so Cody is refreshing when it comes to that.

Eww. Jessica Nominates Josh and Ramses: When Jessica won HOH, I was quite impressed with the power she possessed this week. She has the Halting Hex and her man back in the game and then added HOH to her week. And then she does something stupid and nominates those two for eviction. Josh was her target and she was silly enough to believe the rest of the house would want him out. Why didn’t she just gun for Paul or two of Paul’s actual allies?

Ahh. Jessica Wins POV: What a Janelle/Rachel week she is having! Very impressive. Now she can fix those horrible nominations!

Eww. Jessica Does Not Fix Those Horrible Nominations: Ugh. Jessica almost used the veto, but Cody kind of talked her out of it. She knew it was too risky to leave Ramses up. Of course it was risky! Ramses has no one in the game to vote for him to stay! So, so dumb.

Ahh. Josh Plays His Part: Love him or hate him, Josh did what he had to do this week and did it well. Not only did Josh pretend like he was going home all week, he also terrorized Mark so much that it actually almost broke Mark down a bit.

Eww. Stop Trying To Make Meatball Happen: Sure Josh played his part well, but is anyone else tired of “meatball”? It’s not funny to me and it’s just getting annoying.

Julie Chen hosts Big Brother 19 week 4 eviction

Ahh. The Blindside: I’m still not sure who all actually knew Josh was staying this week, but that vote to evict Ramses sure seemed to leave Elena shocked. I think she heard it was happening, but didn’t think Paul, Raven and Matt would lie to her face. I love a good gasp at eviction time.

Week 5 Big Brother 19 HoH competition

Eww. Paul Wins HOH: I was ready to watch Paul scramble this week since he has no more protection and people could start making a case against him. But alas, he’s back in power and he’ll try to pull the trigger on Jessica and Cody this week. But they aren’t going anywhere.

Ahh. Jessica Drops A Bomb: Even Julie Chen was shocked that Jessica dropped her Halting Hex power during the end of the live show. That was some fun TV, but was it the right move for Jessica?

Eww. Jessica Reveals Her Power: No, it was not the right move for Jessica. Now it’s just going to be flushed out when it could have been used to ruin Paul’s entire HOH and make for some great TV! Oh well.

Temptation Competition on Big Brother 19

Eww. The Curse: Ugh. “Temptation Competition.” A new competition that will allow someone or multiple people to play for safety each week while the last place competitor will be sent to the Block. I knew it was coming because they love having that extra competition for the Sunday episodes because they don’t like giving us HG filler.

What would you say the best and worst moments of the week were?

  1. I wish we could just have a season of BB without all these twists/battle backs & now curses/hexes this season. I think the earlier seasons were much better!

    • Agree, it was better when you had to win comps and strategize to win .and not rely on luck/twists to get to the end

      • You always had to rely on luck to get to the finish. Strategy only gets you so far.

      • I’m fine with the twists, the problem is casting. Too many people gunning for a spot on the jury instead of the win. They don’t belong on the show. Not only that, but three showmances? The only pair with an interesting dynamic would have to be Cody and Jessica, Mark and Elena would have been much better off as individuals, and Matthew and Raven are basically one person at this point. They need people who are determined to play a winning game, and then you stand a better chance at a successful season. Casting’s gotten better since BB16 (which to me was so boring you’d get as much entertainment for an hour watching leaves blow in the wind) but it needs to be focused more on strategy and individuals rather than romance and huge alliances that dominate the whole game. Those things aren’t unavoidable, but it would serve the show well to at least actively try against that instead of wholeheartedly embracing it.

      • According to a feed summary (from last night, I think), Raven1 and Raven2 (why even call him “Matt” anymore) apparently said that they threw the HoH competition to Paul because he was a better competitor. Why go on a show as a contestant if you are not there to really play?

Also, in yesterday’s (2017-07-27) television broadcast, did you notice the scene where Paul told Raven1 and Raven2 to get into bed, and they just dutifully obeyed?

      • Yeah, I actually saw that on the live feeds originally and thought to myself, very very strange.

    • Production needed ways to manipulate things for their desired outcome. They probably have discussed it from all the possible angles and have decided details (tba) for each scenario. When they don’t reveal all the details, they can alter them to suit their agenda. That’s my two cents.

      • They have to cover themselves for happenings like a HG (re MEGAN) leaving or an injured player like Christmas..Production has to adjust events/comps when unexpected interruptions happen,,Always have a backup plan when it comes to BB LOL

      • I agree, it’s probably protection for Paul and Jody, I think I said this before but oh well I’m just going to say it again lol

      • You know that I agree with you there. We’ve had these discussions in depth over the years. 😘

    • I wish we could go one post without making wishes that aren’t happening. We are over 30 days in. Time to get over it.

      • Maybe you should just ignore comments of those opinions that don’t agree w/ yours…get over yourself!

      • On a public forum, I don’t see a problem with having my own opinion, even if it differs from yours.

      • It’s one thing to state your opinion & another to just be flat out rude, which you are!

    • i like the curses and temptations but i would like to pass on the battle back as well as letting any vets enter the game at any point

      • I agree. I hate the Battle Backs & if they have vets then let it be an All Stars season. I love Paul (please don’t bash me for this) but I really expected him to be out already. These HG’s this year are really bummers in the strategy department.

      • I agree but just as last year, Paul learned quick and fast how to play the game. It only took him one week this season to figure these people out. I don’t care for him but he is there to play the game and he plays smart not by playing personal. Yes he wants Cody out but he will play smart to get him out and not make it too personal just has Jessica did with Josh and Cody did with Paul on week one.

    • Just take it for what it is. A TV show, not really much of a game show. I certainly agree just letting the game get back to basics would be great, but it’s not happening. So sit back relax and enjoy the controlled chaos.

    • We’ll probably never see that again, but the bright side, this season has been really good so far

    • Fully agree. Just do a season that is a standard season with standard Big Brother rules. Let the house guests create the story and drive its momentum instead of production. In trying to add some flare and change the narrative of the game, these twists often kill some of the narrative of the season. It sucks!

      • The problem is that it would have to be a very short season otherwise people would get very tired very quickly of people just sitting around talking.

      • It worked fine for 10-11 seasons, and who cares if the season is a bit shorter, they used to be what, 60ish days? These recent 100 day long seasons were way too long.

People didn’t get bored during season 6, 7, for sure not 8…hell even 11 had a string of quality moments.

I guess I don’t mind a twist involved in the season, just not these twists that give production free reign to change the course/narrative of the season. When one twist ends and bam we have a new one it takes the focus away from the players and puts it on the twist.

As long as casting does a good job and provides us with players that are there to play the game and not airheads looking for fame, they can provide 65 days of entertainment without constantly throwing a twist at the game.

  2. For me
Ahhhhh Paul wins HoH cos he’s the only one who’s not afraid to test Jess’ Temptation
Ewwww Cody comes back in the house. Had enough of that robot before he was evicted. However you’re right other than Cameron there was no one I wanted back in the house
I like ‘meatball’ and face it Cody is a meatball.

  3. Say what you will about “meatball”, but it is more audience friendly than the usual A**hole and Mother******. you hear on BBAD.

    • Amen, Obsidiandog. I’m no prude and have an occasional slip myself, but it isn’t normal, in my world, for people to use those words in every sentence. I’d have been slapped silly if I spoke like that in the presence of my parents or grandparents.

      • Although Kevin’s remark last night on BBAD about someone crapping their pants was spot on.

      • Yeah I don;t watch much of it, I can’t devote two to three hours a day for that crap. These spoilers give me more info and better results than the BBAD show does.

      • Same here. I don’t see how anyone could watch that garbage all of the time. Reading verbatim (kind of) like on Jokers is too much at times. I only DVR BBAD in case I read something that happened during the time it aired and I want to go back and watch it bad enough. And I have to want to watch pretty badly. Normally, I delete it. I think I have watched parts of 3, maybe 4 shows.

      • Currently watching last nights BBAD but only because I heard that JODY lost it when they found out they were on the block.

      • I am far far from a prude but, I agree BBAD get to be on stupid with all the F bombs !!!

    • But it doesn’t hold up when you compare it to other nicknames that previous HGs have come up with. Fruitloop Dingus will always be remembered. Meatball will not.

  4. The best part was Cody coming back and Jessica getting DoT, winning HOH and POV. Worst part was Ramses getting evicted and Paul is winning HOH.

  5. Cody may be the only one who can stand up to Paul, but he can’t even do that right.
Yeah good for you for going after the vet…. doesn’t stop the house from distrusting you

    • Cody has no strategic sense whatsoever, Jessica doesn’t either but she at least had the right idea to take down Ramses and replace with Alex. Man I keep thinking about how awesome that move would’ve been LOL

      • Agreed. Jess should have replaced Ramses with Paul. She said she wanted to keep Cody and her from stirring up tension in the house, but the result, as we saw in yesterday’s episode, is that nothing good came to her side (Cody and her) for doing so, and a potential ally (Ramses) is now gone.

      • If she had put up Paul I very much doubt he’d be voted out. He’s got too many followers that hang on his advise.

      • Indeed, Paul would not have been evicted, BUT Josh would have been. If Josh and Paul had been on the block, as Jessica could have made happen, then definitely one of those two would have been evicted. Paul’s supporters would have protected him and evicted Josh.

      • Paul wasn’t the intended target, Josh was. Paul would have just served as the pawn. He would have been completely safe, unlike Ramses. That’s the point being made here.

      • It wasn’t about putting Paul up to evict him, it was about putting Paul up as extra insurance Josh would go home.

  6. As for Jessica’s horrible waste of a week as HOH, I think the worse move she made was revealing she had the Halting Hex & especially announcing her & Cody were safe for a few weeks. I mean, why would you do that!? You just nullified your power of the temptation. Now that the other HG’s know they’ll go straight for their only real allies (at least for this week), Mark & Elana. Of course leaving Ramses up was a very close second mistake.

    • I’m anxious to see if Elena turns tail and runs back to Paul’s side. She acts like a floozy but she isn’t stupid. I understand she has hard feelings about being left out of the loop and Ramses being evicted, but she should understand the logic in that. This decision could have a huge impact on Elena’s game. Mark or Paul, and Paul does not include Cody & Jess.

      • I honestly think Elena is going to do all she can to get back in Paul’s good graces. She’s even told Mark that she has no interest pursuing him outside the house, so maybe she’s trying to distance herself from him and go back to the bigger alliance.
I mean the fact that she’s been on Paul’s side the whole time, but since she is grouped up with Mark the HGs stopped trusting her is pretty funny. The fact that Cody and Jess don’t even trust Mark and Elena either makes it even better. They are at the top of everyone’s to go list, and they haven’t even done anything except talk to the wrong people at the wrong time! Too good.

But in reality, even if Elena does try to go back with Paul it’s too late for her to “break up” her showmance. I don’t know why she rushed into things, because now she’s stuck tied to someone she’s not even interested in. If I actually liked Elena as a human being I’d feel some sort of sympathy for her; as it stands however, she made her bed and she can lie in it :)

      • I agree with what you’re saying although she has been with Mark since the very beginning. The problem is Mark and Elena went crawling back to Jessica and Cody because she had the HOH. So it’s her own fault! She has no one else to blame

      • well said my friend! I was thinking the exact same thing! Is she going to go crawling back to Paul, it looks like she is! Lame

  7. Jess spilling the beans about her HEX was something she thought would be better for her game. Making Paul and the house think they are safe for a few weeks. Not seeing that Paul will try to find out the truth. That is his game! And when he finds out its only one week then BAM his HOH is not wasted. No matter if there is not an eviction. He got Jess to use her HEX. So stating you had it was a dumb thing to do Jess!!! Thought you couldn’t get any worse at this game and you surprise everyone.

  8. Whether it was a good idea or not, Jess dropping the DOT bomb on the house was the absolute best part of last night’s episode! Watching Josh’s smirk fall and Paul struggle to keep his grin in place was PRICELESS! That just made my entire night.

  9. I 100% agree that Big Brother needs to stop the Jody/Glenn/Cameron day one eviction trend. It is just cruel. Anyone who enjoys these needs to empathize with these people. Not only is their dream being stomped out mostly to just dumb luck, but they also went through a lot for work for nothing.

People need to consider and realize that some of these people quit their jobs, they have to plan out and pay all their bills three months in advance…they literally have to set it up so their normal life remains stable while they go live their dream.

All that to walk in the house and then leave a few hours later!? Total BS…and then to add insult to injury they don’t even let them go home and get back to their lives. They lock em in a hotel filled with false hope and say see you in a month.

We as fans also lose because we trade an opening night eviction, which isn’t even that exciting (because we don’t know and love/hate them yet), for that persons potential. Whether they would have been skilled players who knows, maybe not, but we also lose any drama they may have created.

  10. You forgot
    Ewwwww
Josh in the DR room continuously saying “Your Boy”
The least liked HG (perhaps in history, definitely in my history!) thinks he is “our boy!”
    Ahhhhh
He’s in for a big shock when this game is over ha ha
Plus, I think if Paul finds out he is using his catchphrase, Paul might vote Josh out because of that! Hee hee 😝
