Big Brother 17 Spoilers: Week 12.5 HoH Competition Results

Tonight on Big Brother the Final 4 HoH was crowned when Julie Chen hosted the backyard battle that secured one Houseguest a seat in the F3.

Following a “surprise” eviction that left tonight’s victim stumbling out the front door without even his shoes on the surviving HGs went on outside to see who would be the next to last Head of Household.

Yes, just as I explained would happen, Austin headed on out the door and Steve stayed behind. Oh, and Steve didn’t just stay behind, he went from the doghouse to the penthouse in classic Big Brother form.

This round’s HoH challenge was “What The Bleep?” which used Houseguest sound bites from the season but with crucial words removed. Julie then offered a word that the players had to decide was either true or false. Seven rounds to go and the most points gets the win.

Liz scored 0 points since she was only right when John and Steve were also right. Steve and John both earned 2 points which lead to a tie-breaker.

Julie asked John and Steve to estimate how many seconds from start to finish the “Under the Rainbow” HoH comp lasted on Thursday. John guessed 3600 seconds while Steve guess 601. The answer was just under 2900 seconds. John went over and Steve became the new HoH.

Here’s the play by play for each round as John, Liz, & Steve faced off:

  • Round 1: All get a point
  • Round 2: All get a point
  • Round 3: Steve gets a point
  • Round 4: All get a point
  • Round 5: John gets a point
  • Round 6: No one gets a point
  • Round 7: John & Steve get a point
  • Tie-breaker: Steve wins after John goes over!

Now we’re waiting on the Feeds to return and discover who Steve put on the Block, which really doesn’t matter by the way, but go ahead and try to convince me otherwise :). Then we’ll get the Veto competition spoilers and that’s the big one since it’ll decide who gets to cast the sole vote. More power with the Veto winner than the HoH this week. Spoilers available at 9PM PT tonight.

  1. My heart stopped because I thought John had won. I truly have disliked Steve since the beginning of this season, but if he puts up Vanessa and Liz, then I will be his number 2 fan.

  2. YES! YES! YES!!!! Steven won HoH! Austin went home?! Oh my goodness YES!
Now here is to hoping Stevie puts Vanessa and Liz on the block – he better remember what snake Vanessa was….lol

Although I guess Matt is right, it doesn’t matter who goes up, just who wins the veto – here’s to hoping JMac can win the veto and Vanessa finally goes home :)

  4. Of course it matters who goes up!
Steve has no control if he wins HOH – he’s at the whim of the person that is not nominated. He has to put up his two biggest targets.

To think he can just pick whomever out of a hat is ridiculous. There is strategy in putting up the two nominees.

    • No, cuz who ever wins the PoV will vote, and if it’s Steve he can just rearrange the players if he wants. It doesn’t matter at all who he puts up, it’s all about the Veto.

    • For this round it does not matter. The only thing that matters is who wins veto. If one of the nominees wins veto they pull themselves down and the one thats left has to go up. If the one that is not on the block wins they cant use it because there is no one else to put up. If steve wins he then decides who will be the one not on the block again.

      • Yes I overthought it – Steve winning Veto he can set it how he wants. My thought related to ensuring the deciding voter would go with his decision – but he can make that call based on a Veto win, not at nominations. My bad.

    • Tomorrow is a live eviction, I thought they said they’d be back up tonight since now it’s live like any other week, just a condensed 2 day ‘week’.

  5. is anybody else sick of instances where they decide who wins a challenge with these stupid tiebreak number guessIng games (based on pretty random criteria)? I’ve always hated it, but especially tonight because the only reason Steve won was because he made a mistake by leaving off the fourth digit to his number guess (he meant to write down 6010)! If there’s a tie after a predetermined amount of rounds they should just let the contestants keep going until one of them gets it wrong. Could you imagine a sporting event or a spelling bee concluding with a tie breaker that is based on guessing how many marbles are in a bucket? Ridiculous I say! And what’s with the rule on these guessing games that if you go over you are disqualified? If they’re going to continue these (which I doubt they will after this season) they should just let the person who is closest over or under win. Sorry to rant, but I hate a game that is based on strategy being greatly affected by “guess my weight” style tiebreaker in the most important around .

  6. he was just lying, he was always only in the hundreds he changed his number a few times, why he would lie who knows the kid isn’t all there

  7. I doubt that is true. He is full of it. He wrote down three different numbers and none had an extra zero. Steve is a genius when it comes to puzzles, and remembering things, especially math.

  8. I don’t understand how Steve won? John’s guess was closer to the actual number of seconds which was 2,825.
