This season of Big Brother 15 looks to truly be bigger than ever. We’ve been hearing it all month since host Julie Chen revealed the 2013 season would need “more houseguests than ever.” Now we’re finding out that not only will the season start earlier with a June 26, 2013 premiere, but it’s also set to run longer.
In their latest promo, watch the video below, CBS throws out a new tagline for the Big Brother 15 season with “100 Days of Summer.” Now we’ve heard in the past that the marketing department is sometimes disconnected from the actual production team when it comes to making promises and this might be a similar situation.
According to CBS’ press release earlier this week where we learned Big Brother After Dark would move from Showtime to TVGN they also mentioned BBAD would air on its new home for 13 weeks.
Now I’m no math whiz, but 13 weeks, which would already make for an incredibly long Big Brother season, doesn’t add up to 100 days of BB15. We’d have to reach more than fourteen weeks for that to happen.
The other question is, is that really 13 weeks or will the show span 13 weeks on the calendar? If it’s literally 13 sets of 7-days then Big Brother 15 would conclude around September 25th, kinda late for a BB season. If it’s going to simply air across thirteen separate weeks then we could see the finale end up on the 18th, a more typical end date while allowing for the new season of shows to still kick off in September.
No matter what those dates end up being it definitely looks like we’re in for a LOT of Big Brother 2013 for the summer season. Now if only CBS would start letting us know what’s going on with those Big Brother Live Feeds this summer!

Yeah, CBS will probably reveal that info about a week before the premiere. Last year it was 2 days after we interviewed them and 2 days before they went inside. Of course when they go inside is about five days before the premiere.

Will the premiere be live now? Or will they still enter the house earlier? So excited to see the new cast and pick my favorites (even though one of them usually goes home first)!
Doubtful. I think they like to get the hamsters in there and let them spin the wheels for awhile before they go live. That lets production build up some footage, etc. before it’s go time.
A BB season lasting a hundred days is a Big Brother rite of passage for every version of BB. This could be fun. :)
Well that’s cool. I didn’t know the various other versions had gone that long. 100 days seems torturous to the HGs, but I guess they’re there for the money and not a vacation!
Yup, but it would require a lot of twists to keep interesting all the way past Day 100. That may include secret tasks, hidden housemates, surprise evictions, and even a second house with its own set of HG’s. But it would still boils down to the HG’s who can survive more than four months stuck inside a house.
I think the strategy behind CBS giving this year’s Big Brother an early start and a longer run is for them to minimize the impact of many new and returning shows from the other networks premiering on the first week of the TV season in September on many of its Sunday/Tuesday/Wednesday fall line-up of shows.
Rephrase: “It would still boils down to an interesting cast of HG’s who can survive more than four months stuck inside a house.”
I’m sure 100 days seems like an eternity (if you’re a hamster). But to us fans it’s 100 days of games, alliances, betrayals, trash talkin, back stabbing, secret spilling, slop eating fun! Just another 100 days in paradise. Lets roll BB!!
Hmm the longest season ever was the first with 88 days, and that didn’t have the week prior in sequester or something. Plus I thought they could only keep the HG’s for 90 days or something like that? Weird but big brother is always like this before the show starts.
I can’t imagine the producers wanting the show to go too late into September because other shows air and the ratings go down. Could you imagine entering the BB house in June and leaving at the end and it’s almost October? That’s crazy
Good to see it is going on longer and have different houseguests this season. I like some of the other houseguests but some are annoying at times. It will be nice to have a bunch of new faces. Can’t wait to see the new twists for the season.

13 weeks of airing but usually HGs are in the house 7-10 days before premiere night.
