Diary Room: Derrick Levasseur’s “Weekly Warriors” – Big Brother 17 Week 8

Steve also won HOH last week and although many did not like his nominations, from a strategic perspective, it was a good move. He put up one strong player, Jackie Ibarra and one weak player, Meg Maley. When the veto wasn’t used, he got out a strong player that he was not working with and left Meg, who has proven over time that she is not very good at competitions.

Steven has to be very careful going forward and make sure that he is not exposed. Although there does appear to be a divide in the house, both sides do occasionally talk game to each other and if they start to compare notes, Steven could be exposed as the common denominator. If he is able to continue to play the game as if he all alone, the target will be small on his back and a couple competition wins late in the game could result in Steven giving a speech on finale night.

As far as who has disappointed, even though it’s tough for me to admit, it’s John McGuire. If you are watching the show, you know I am a big fan of Johnny Mac. But something happened last week when he voted out Clay over Shelli. Initially, I thought he was kidding when he gave his rude answers to Julie but now, I’m not so sure. He appears to have lost a part of himself since sending Clay home and has been more obvious with his words and mannerisms regarding his feeling towards particular players and moves that have been made.

In addition to that, he is divulging a lot of information to Steven based on his assumption that they are in an alliance together, which appears to be one-sided as far as Steven is concerned. Now Johnny Mac finds himself on the block next to his closest ally, Becky Burgess. Barring any last minute changes, he should survive this week but he is severely wounded and really needs to win HOH tonight. If he’s able to do so, hopefully he gets his “spunk” back and makes some move that will set him up for weeks to come.

  1. The Austwins are feeling a little too safe. They all want to throw HOH. Austin even said he only wants the room not the gameplay. You know what happens when you feel safe. You’re the next one out the door. If Vanessa stays much longer I think she will target them. She knows she’s at the bottom of that 4 person group. (Not an alliance anymore).

    • I’m hoping the Austwins do throw the HOH tonight – would love to see the beginning of their downfall.

  2. I agree with everything you wrote except that John was obviously kidding with Julie. How anyone could think otherwise is a mystery to me.

  3. John’s other flaw is that he doesn’t want to hang out with people he doesn’t like. The problem is Big Brother is a social game, so he has to interact with people he doesn’t like. Even Steve has a better social then he

  4. Derrick, I’ve been saying the same thing about Steven all week. He’s in a very good position right now in the game and his moves during his reign as HOH were very smart for his own game. As long as he can continue to slide under the radar, I have no doubt he’ll make it to at least F3.

  5. MAYBE he [Johnny Mac] is playing them and will put the twins and replace with austin if he gets HOH!! but when you get mad and dont think like the smart person you are you do stupid things

  6. I look forward to hearing your take every week Derrick! So happy you won last year with your flawless game play. Hope Agustin has the balls to back door Vanessa. I doubt it. H finally win something. I think the Austwins will be finAl 3. My mid way prediction.
