Big Brother 20: Who Is Playing The Best Game? [Op-Ed]

We have officially arrived at the jury mark in the Big Brother 20 game, so it’s time to take a collective look at who has been playing the best game this season.

I’ll be ranking the players from best to worst, based on my own observations and the usual game criteria. This is a separate list from Adam Poch’s Weekly Rankings. This is a cumulative look, and of course I’ll only be looking at HGs left in the game.

Who is Playing the Best Big Brother 20 Game?

1. Tyler. As of now, Tyler is starting to slip from the top spot. Not only did he go up this week as the Hacker’s nominee, he’s the main target on the opposite side of the house going forward. But, he’s still go a solid backing of Sam, Angela, Kaycee, Brett, JC and possibly Scottie. So he’s still doing something right. And spoiler alert, Angela used the veto on him on Monday, so he’s not going anywhere. And with his Cloud power app in play, he might actually use it before he’s nominated next time. He is being a bit sloppy with jury management, though, and we know where that gets you in this game. I don’t look for Tyler to stay at the top of this list when I revisit it in a couple of weeks, but as of now, it’s his. I couldn’t not put him at the top of the list, I mean come on.

2. Scottie. This was a tough spot to rank. I wanted to put Haleigh here after her bold move putting Tyler on the block as the Hacker, but I just couldn’t. She’s made too many other missteps. Scottie, however, has always had his mind in the game and has stuck to his plans. He is the only HOH aside from Sam to get out their actual target, and that’s saying a lot. Well, Tyler got out Steve, but come on, that’s no big feat. Scottie is also defecting from an alliance that has done nothing but throw him under the bus this whole time. Of course that puts him at the bottom of that alliance, but with a few comp wins down the line, his spot on that totem pole won’t matter.

3. Haleigh. OK, she earned her spot here by letting us know how aware she is in the game this week. When she won the Hacker comp she said she put Tyler on the block because he is riding the middle and is clearly the biggest threat in the game. And she’s exactly right. She’s the only person to actually take a shot at Tyler and that’s impressive. Of course it’s not going to play out as she might have hoped, but even she has said on the Live Feeds this week she would rather Scottie go over Tyler. So that makes no sense. Hopefully we’ll know more about what she meant by that on the Wednesday night episode. I really wish we had Live Feeds Diary Rooms for this very reason.

4. Brett. Yes, I really listed Brett at No. 4. The guy has survived the block both times when he was supposed to go. And both times he dropped some major bombs at the eviction. And here he is, actually sitting pretty at the jury point in the game as no longer a target. He’s been charming people and spent the day Monday cooking breakfast and lunch for people. He’s giving them massages and making them laugh. I think at this point only Rockstar would nominate him, and even she might skip him for Tyler. Don’t count Brett out.

5. JC. I don’t like JC’s tactics or his attitude or much of anything else about him. But he has had a lot of control in this game. I would have ranked him in the No. 2 spot if it weren’t for him not actually picking a side. He’s doing a great job riding the middle, but he’s been leaning more toward the Level 6 side, and he’s been helping them cut the other side. What he doesn’t seem to realize is that once there is no other side, he’s the first to go. Maybe Scottie will be one more buffer for him now, but JC just hasn’t made any long-term plans that I know of.

6. Kaycee. So she hasn’t made any moves, won any competitions and hasn’t really had a mind of her own, but she’s got a pretty solid social game. She’s also one of only four to not be nominated this season. As of now, I don’t see her as anyone’s main target and if that gets her close to the end and then she wins a few comps, she could be a contender. She’d probably be able to get a lot of jury votes, especially if any of the jurors end up bitter.

7. Angela. Before this week I would have listed Angela last. And I still kind of want to because of her absurd move last week targeting her best friend in the game. Angela won HOH and veto and is getting her target out this week (it seems), so that gets her some points. But she’s also making a lot of people angry, so that’s why she can’t rank any higher than this.

8. Rockstar. I feel bad that Rockstar keeps coming up short. She seems to have a grasp on the game and what needs to be done, but she can’t ever get it done. That’s mostly because her alliance is busy bickering over stupid things and pointing the finger at each other. It’s really frustrating to watch, actually, especially when Rockstar could probably make some big moves if she was given the chance.

9. Faysal. Poor, poor Fessy. He just never knows what’s going on in the game. I actually feel like ninth place is kind of high for him, but he has won the Power of Veto twice, so that gets him a few points at least. He’s just never with it as far as the game goes. And he spends way too much time being jealous of Haleigh and arguing with her. His head just isn’t in the game and he’s one of his alliance’s biggest liabilities.

10. Bayleigh. When Swaggy left and Bayleigh got her head in the game, I got so excited. She even shot to the top of my favorites list. She knew what needed to be done and was ready to play. And then she won HOH. And then she told Rachel about her power. And then everyone learned about her power. And then her game just kept going further and further downhill. She started talking down to people and insulting her alliance and trusting the other side of the house. It was a disaster. She crashed and burned so fast and it really bummed me out.

11. Sam. Oh, Sam. How the mighty have fallen. I was a big Sam fan. I thought she was sweet and reminded me of my mom and was so excited to see what she added to the game. And then she started acting different. She started saying really judgmental things and talking in riddles and when she won HOH, she did nothing for her social game. And then this week when she waned everyone to throw the Hacker comp, I decided I was completely done with Sam. She has actually said she doesn’t want to play the game and is just there for everyone else. And I don’t think that’s strategy. If that’s her strategy then she needs to tell us so I can put her at the top of this list next time, because she’s a genius.

How would you rank the Big Brother 20 players?
