Big Brother 20 Episode 18 Recap: The Game Gets Hacked!

The Big Brother 20 Hacker took control of the game Sunday night, taking down one of Angela’s nominees and replacing hers with one of their own.

That Hacker Comp is a new element to the season, and it was a nice touch of drama and suspense. BB20 just keeps on giving.

Sunday’s episode picked up right after Rachel’s brutal blindside eviction and Angela won the Head of Household competition. Brett is still reeling from his his speech and happy he’s still there. Rockstar is crying, not because Brett is still there, but because she was close to winning HOH again but came up short.  She wants to see photos of her kids and family.

Then we get to find out that it was Angela’s idea for Brett to throw Rachel under the bus at the live eviction. Also, 15 minutes before eviction Tyler told Bayleigh that Rachel told him about her power. He decide to set that up so he could explain that’s why he voted Rachel out.

Bayleigh isn’t worried about Tyler’s vote because she’s mad that Brett outed her while throwing Rachel under the bus. He explains to her that he didn’t really owe her anything at that point because she nominated him and was exploiting him to get evicted. He was just trying to keep himself in the game and she can’t be mad at him for that, he implies.

The Houseguests are called into the living room to reveal the Hacker Comp. The new twist gives one player the power to secretly hack the week. They will be able to pull one nominee from the block and name the replacement nominee. They also get to secretly choose one houseguest to play in veto, and finally, secretly eliminate someone’s vote at eviction. That’s a lot of power.

Sam decided it was too much power and calls a house meeting where she offers to win the Hacker competition if everyone throws it to her and she would refuse to use the powers so they could all just play the week as usual. No one was interested in her terrible idea, so that didn’t go anywhere. Production wouldn’t have allowed that anyway. They’ve already had their Bonus Life and Identity Theft twists ruined, so no way they’d allow another one to flop.

At the nomination ceremony Angela goes with Rockstar and Scottie for her nominees. As she told us earlier, she wanted to put two people up that she’d be ok with leaving this week. She realized with the Hacker in play, her nominees might not matter so there’s not much strategy to this week.

And it’s time for the Hacker Competition. The players all go into separate rooms on a dark and moody set. Each player has their own computer and it’s just really cool. They will be given scrambled Big Brother phrases and the first three players to unscramble the word correctly get points. After seven rounds the person with the most points wins.

Round 1 points: Haleigh, Kaycee, Scottie

Round 2 points: Angela, Haleigh, Faysal

Round 3 points: Tyler, Angela, Rockstar

Round 4 points: Scottie, Tyler, Kaycee

Round 5 points: JC, Faysal, Scottie

Round 6 points: Sam, Tyler, Haleigh

Round 7 points: Rockstar, Brett, Haleigh

Haleigh wins the Hacker Comp! She decides not to reveal her win to anyone in the game. Smart choice. Take notes, Bayleigh. Angela thinks that Scottie won the competition and what’s about to happen might make him seem even more guilty.

The HGs are called into the living room and the BB Hacker removes Scottie from the block. In his place, she names Tyler as the nominee. Cut to Haleigh in the DR and she says she can’t let Tyler ride the middle any longer. She says he’s a threat and she isn’t going to waste this opportunity.

So Tyler takes his seat next to Rockstar and his allies are shocked. Sam even sheds a tear. Seriously.
