Big Brother 18 Twists Are Dead, Long Live The Twists!

Last night on Big Brother 18 host Julie Chen revealed the Big Brother twists for Roadkill and Teams were officially over for the season. But first, there’s more.

Update: Julie revealed the upcoming twist will be a viewer vote next Thursday that will let fans work together on strategy. Hmm. Could we be voting for the 3rd nom again?

Update 2: Another twist was revealed! This one is for the secret room & Houseguests must discover how to enter.

We finally got to say goodbye to the first two twists of the season just as it appeared time to introduce more but we’re only a few steps ahead of the Houseguests on one of them.

We already knew about the Battle Back returning HG twist but now we’ve been promised a “wave” of new twists that we haven’t even discovered yet. As last night’s eviction show closed out Julie Chen teased us, saying “the next wave of twists that will change the Houseguests like never before.”

Battle Back is going on today or at least airing today, who knows for sure when it was held but possibly overnight. When we last left the Houseguests they still didn’t know about the background competitions that would send someone back. There should be some fun shocked looks when they realize those HGs they may have disrespected are about to be back in the mix.

As for what other twists are out there, we have no idea, but Julie Chen mentioned she’d reveal a game changer today during Jeff’s After Show program so we’ll update the site if Julie announces something new. But you know what? I’d rather the HGs just play the game.

I was glad last year when the Takeover quietly went away and let us get to the game that’s great on its own. No such luck this time and that’s surprising considering I actually liked Roadkill (well, not it’s 6 hour comps) and thought it gave the season a good kick in the pants start. Not sure why they don’t think it left behind enough momentum on its own though.

Teams shouldn’t have lasted beyond that first week but at least they’re gone now. It’s nice that they fostered alliances, at least for some of the HGs, but protecting up to three extra Houseguests for a full week was just too much. Not only that but just like that awful “fan favorite” twist from the last two seasons, the teams twist encouraged thrown competitions. Blerg.

So now those are over. We’ll hopefully get our Friday Feeds back (well not this week), but remember that Grodner and Meehan (exec producers) have said they like having something exciting for Sunday’s shows so there could be a new comp on our way. We’ll have to wait and see.

What kind of twists would you like to see added to the season? Or maybe you’re a Big Brother purist and would rather them just play the game. Share your thoughts below!

  1. Let’s just play the game! A great Olde Time-y Big Brother game. No more twists; no more gimmicks; just game play. Stab-in-the-back-lie-to-your-face game play. ;)

  2. I really wish Roadkill would have stayed. It would have played much better without the team twist. Especially if these people learned to keep their mouths shut and keep it a secret. So much more drama with a secret third nominee each week, with the possibility of hinky nominees.
